국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 외국인이 경험하는 차별이 부정적 긴장 요인으로 작용하여 부정적 감정을 매개로 폭력태도에 영향을 주는지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 외국인 1,209명 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 2차 자료를 활용하였고, 분석 결과 외국인의 차별경험은 부정적 감정을 매개하여 폭력태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 외국인이 맺는 사회적 관계는 차별 경험이 부정적 감정을 매개하여 폭력태도에 미치는 영향을 조절하였는데, 사회적 관계의 수준이 증가할수록 폭력에 대한 허용도도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 외국인이 경험하는 차별과 이로 인한 부정적 감정을 최소화하는 범죄예방대책의 필요성을 시사하며, 외국인들이 맺는 사회적 관계가 한국사회에서 갈등을 유발할 수 있는 요인이 될 수 있는 가능성을 나타낸다. 따라서 외국인 커뮤니티가 형성되고 유지되면서 나타나는 사회문제에 관심을 기울일 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to verify whether the experienced discrimination by foreigners acts as a strain factor and effects the violence attitudes mediating negative emotions. For this purpose, secondary data from a survey of 1,209 foreigners were used. As a result of the analysis, it was found that experienced discrimination by foreigners has a significant effect on violence attitudes by mediating negative emotions. In addition, the social relationships formed by foreigners moderated the effects of the experienced discrimination on violence attitudes by mediating negative emotion. In particular, it was found that as the level of social relationships increased, the violence attitudes also increased. These results suggest the need for crime prevention measures to minimize the experienced discrimination by foreigners and the negative emotions, and indicate the possibility that the social relationships formed by foreigners can become a factor that can cause conflict in Korean society. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the social problems that arise as foreign communities are formed and maintained.
