국문 초록

목적: 본 연구는 제2언어 학습자를 위한 한국어 이독성 공식 개발과 해당 공식의 수치를 학습자 수준으로 환산할 수 있는 수준 환산표 제시를 주요 목적으로 한다. 방법: 이독성 요인별 난이도 영향을 분석하고, 회귀분석을 통해 도출된 결정계수(R²)를 바탕으로 이독성 공식을 산출한다. 다음으로 도출된 공식을 활용하여 준거 지문의 이독성 지수를 산출하고, 해당 값을 기준으로 수준 환산표를 작성한다. 결과: 회귀 분석을 통하여 이독성 공식을 확인하였다. 이를 적용하여 한국어능력시험에서 문항 번호가 뒤로 갈수록 이독성 지수가 낮아지는 것을 확인되었고 수준 환산표를 제시하였다. 결론: 본 연구는 제2언어 학습자를 위한 한국어 읽기 텍스트의 난이도를 객관적으로 측정하고자, 이독성 지수 공식을 도출하였다. 그러나 다양한 요인을 통합하여 확인하지 못한 점 등이 제한점으로 남았다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이독성 공식을 기반으로 한 정량적 난이도 측정을 했다는점에 의의가 있으며, 앞으로 여러 이독성 공식이 추가로 개발되어, 보다 유연하게 활용될 수 있을 것을 기대한다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aims to develop a Korean readability formula for second language (L2) learners and to present a level conversion table that translates the formula’s numerical output into learner proficiency levels. Methods: The study analyzes the influence of various readability factors on text difficulty and derives a readability formula based on the coefficient of determination (R²) from a regression analysis. Using the derived formula, readability indices for reference texts are calculated, and a level conversion table is constructed based on these values. Results: Through regression analysis, a Korean readability formula was developed. Applying this formula revealed that, in the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), items appearing later in the test tended to have lower readability scores. A level conversion table was subsequently proposed. Conclusion: This study established a formula to objectively assess the readability level of Korean reading texts for L2 learners. Although the study is limited by not integrating various potential factors, it is meaningful in that it provides a quantitative method for measuring text difficulty. It is expected that additional readability formulas will be developed in the future to enable more flexible applications.
