본 연구는 유아 토의 기반 활동에 관한 국내 연구 동향을 분석하여 향후 연구 방향과 교육 현장 적용 가능성을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 1993년부터 2024년까지 발표된 학위논문과 학술 논문을 대상으로 연구 시기, 연구 대상, 연구 주제, 연구 내용, 연구 방법별 동향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 토의 기반 활동에 관한 연구는 2000년부터 2004년 사이에 가장 활발히 이루어졌으며 이후에도 유사한 수준으로 지속되었다. 둘째, 연구 대상은 5세 유아가 가장 많았고 다음으로 4세 유아, 4· 5세 혼합 연령 대상 연구 순이었다. 반면, 교사를 대상으로 한 연구는 저조하였다. 셋째, 연구 주제는 활동 개발 및 효과 분석에 관한 연구가 가장 많았고 토의 과정의 의미 탐구, 수업 개선 연구 순으로 이루어졌다. 넷째, 연구 내용 중 교수학습방법 면에서는 그림책을 활용한 연구가 많았다. 교육적 효과 면에서는 사회성 발달 효과를 다룬 연구가 가장 많았으며 인지, 언어, 정서, 창의성, 도덕성 발달 순으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 연구 방법에서는 양적 실험 연구가 주를 이루었고 자료수집 방법으로는 검사법이 가장 많이 활용되었다. 본 연구는 토의 기반 활동의 교육적 가치를 살펴보고, 향후 연구 및 현장 적용에 기초 자료를 제공하였다는 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed domestic research trends on discussion-based activities in early childhood education to propose future research directions and explore practical applications. Dissertations and journal articles published between 1993 and 2024 were reviewed by research period, participants, topics, content, and methods. Results showed that research was most active between 2000 and 2004 and has continued steadily. Most studies targeted five-year-old children, followed by four-year-olds and mixed-age groups, while research focusing on teachers was limited. The most common research topics were the development of discussion-based activities and the analysis of their effects, followed by studies exploring the meaning of the discussion process and those aimed at improving instruction. Fourth, many studies used picture books as a teaching method. In terms of educational effects, most focused on social development, followed by cognitive, language, emotional, creative, and moral development. Fifth, quantitative experimental studies was predominant in the research methods. Among data collection methods, tests were used most frequently. This study is significant in that it explores the educational value of discussion-based activities and provides foundational data for future research and practical applications in the field.
