베트남 여성결혼이민자의 생애주기별한국어 학습 경험에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 베트남 출신 여성결혼이민자의 생애주기별 한국어 학습 경험을 탐색하기 위해 질적 사례연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 생애주기별(입국 초기, 출산 전후, 자녀 양육, 취업)로 여성결혼이민자의 한국어 학습 과정, 한국어 학습 경험, 한국어 학습에 대한 기대를 연구 문제로 설정하였고 이를 위해 광주광역시에 거주하는 베트남 출신 여성 결혼이민자 3명을 의도적 표집(Purposive Sampling)으로 선정하여 심층 면담을 진행하였으며, 수집된 자료는 Stake(1995)의 사례연구 방법을 적용해 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 여성결혼이민자들의 한국어 학습 과정은 ‘가다 서다를 반복하다’, 한국어 학습 경험은 ‘힘든 만큼 성장하다’, 한국어 학습에 대한 기대는 ‘더 나은 삶을 기대하다’라는 중심 주제로 분석되었다. 이들의 한국어 학습 과정은 생애주기별 상황에 따라 지속성이 제한되는 양상을 보였다. 또한 다양한 어려움 속에서도 점차 언어적·문화적 역량을 키워나감을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구를 통해 이들이 더 나은 삶을 꿈꾸었고, 이러한 바람은 생애주기별 한국어 학습에 대한 열망으로 표출되었음을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 여성결혼이민자를 위한 한국어교육은 생애주기의 특성과 생활 맥락을 반영하여 실용적으로 운영되어야 하며, 입국 전 한국어 학습 단계를 포함한 생애주기별 교재 개발과 한국어교육 과정 설계의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study conducted a qualitative case study to explore the Korean language learning experience of female marriage immigrants from Vietnam by life cycle. In this study, the Korean language learning process, Korean language learning experience, and expectations for Korean language learning of female marriage immigrants were set as research problems by life cycle (early entry, before and after childbirth, raising children, and employment). To this end, three Vietnamese female marriage immigrants living in Gwangju Metropolitan City were selected as purposeful sampling and in-depth interviews were conducted, and the collected data were analyzed by applying Stake’s (1995) case study method. As a result of the study, the Korean language learning process of female marriage immigrants was analyzed under the central theme of ‘repeatedly starting and stopping’, the Korean language learning experience was ‘growth as much as difficulty’, and the expectations for Korean language learning were ‘expectation for a better life’. Their Korean learning process showed a pattern of limited persistence depending on the circumstances of each life cycle. In addition, it was confirmed that they gradually developed linguistic and cultural competencies despite various difficulties. Through the study, it was found that they dreamed of a better life, and this desire was expressed as a desire for learning Korean for each life cycle. Based on the findings of this study, Korean language education for female marriage immigrants should be practically operated by reflecting the characteristics and life context of the life cycle, and the necessity of developing textbooks for each life cycle, including the stage of learning Korean before entering the country, and designing Korean language curriculum was suggested.
