국문 초록

본 연구는 다차원 운전스타일 인벤토리(MDSI)의 한국어 버전을 개발하고, 이를 통해 20–30대 한국인 운전자의 운전스타일을 분류하고자 하였다. 기존 MDSI는 이스라엘에서 개발된 8요인 구조의 자기보고식 설문도구로, 본 연구에서는 716명의 한국 운전자를 대상으로 타당화 작업을 수행하였다. 확인적 요인분석과 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 설문의 구조 타당성을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 원본 MDSI의 8요인 중 ‘해리적 운전’ 및 ‘스트레스 완화 운전’ 요인이 제거되었고, 최종적으로 6요인 21문항 구조의 한국어판 MDSI가 도출되었다. 이는 한국 청년 운전자들이 해당 요인을 독립된 운전스타일로 인식하지 않으며, 문화적 특성 및 교통 환경이 요인 구조에 영향을 미쳤음을 시사한다. 고속주행, 위험추구, 분노 표출 등은 본 연구 대상에서 두드러지게 나타났으며, 이는 한국 20–30대 운전자의 심리·행동적 특성과 밀접하게 관련된 결과로 해석된다. 본 연구는 국내 교통안전 교육 및 정책 수립 시 활용 가능한 문화적 타당성을 갖춘 운전스타일 평가 도구를 제시하였다는 점에서 실천적·학술적 의의를 가지며, 향후 청년 운전자의 행동 유형 분석 및 교통안전 개입 설계에 실용적 기반을 제시하였다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to validate the Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory (MDSI) in a Korean context by developing a Korean version and applying it to classify the driving styles of Korean drivers in their 20s and 30s. A total of 734 participants completed the survey, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were conducted to assess the structural validity. The results showed that the original 8-factor structure of MDSI was not fully applicable to Korean young drivers. Specifically, the “Dissociative” and “Distress-reduction” factors were removed, yielding a revised 6-factor structure with 21 items. These findings suggest that cultural and contextual characteristics influence the perception and expression of driving styles. The remaining factors—such as high-velocity, risky, and angry driving—were prominently observed in the sample, reflecting psychological and behavioral features unique to Korean drivers in their 20s and 30s. This study offers a culturally valid assessment tool for use in traffic safety education, policy design, and further psychological research on driver behavior in Korea.
