자전적 영화에서 내면의식을 나타내는 사운드디자인 기법 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 자전적 영화의 사운드디자인에서, 자신의 이야기를 객관적 사실로전달하는데 그치지 않고, 개인의 주관적 사건과 내면의 욕구를 담아낼 수 있는영화로 발전시키는 사운드디자인 기법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 자전적 소재와 사운드의 잠재력을 확인하고, 자전적 스토리의 모태가 되는 감독 개인의 이야기를 청각의 요소와 결합하여 개인의 내면의식을 나타내는 사운드 기법과 양상을 살펴보게 될 것이다. 또한, 감독의 내면의식과 자전적 서사, 이에 대한 사운드디자인 기법의 논점을바탕으로, 본인이 사운드 디자이너로 참여하였던 영화 <나의 김치 연대기>를 사례로 들어 사운드디자인적인 특이성에 대하여 제시할 것이다. 연구 결과, 영화 <나의 김치 연대기>에 나타난 사운드디자인 기법은 나레이션기법을 통한 내면의식의 형상화, 장면전환에서 사용되는 사운드의 기법을 적용한사례를 통해 감독의 내면의식 표현을 극대화 하였다는 것을 알 수 있다. 독백을가지고 내러티브를 이끌어 가고, 주관화와 객관화를 사운드를 통해 보여주고 있으며 다큐멘터리 기법을 활용하거나 배경음악위에 나레이션을 삽입하여 시적 방식을 이끈 점, 시간의 경과를 스토리텔링한 점, 보이스 오버를 통한 현재와 미래를 중첩시킨 점 등이 이 사례연구에서 발견된 항목들이다. 영화의 자전적 소재는 감독 스스로가 경험의 본질에 접근하고, 관객이 그 본질의 내면을 공유하는 경험을 만들게 된다. 본 연구는 사운드디자인이 영화의 소리로 울려 퍼져 이러한 과정을 적극적으로 표현해 낼 수 있는 매우 적합한 요소임을확인하게 될 수 있을 것이다. 이와 더불어, 자전적 영화의 사운드는 개인의 경험을삶의 예술로 승화시킬 수 있는 창조적인 매체가 됨을 확인할 수 있을 것이다. 누구나 자신의 이야기를 가지고 있지만 모두 이를 훌륭한 사운드로 승화 시킬수는 없다. 본 연구에서 추구하는 자전적 영화의 사운드디자인의 목표는 작가 스스로가 자신의 이야기에 다른 방식으로 접근하여 드러나지 않았던 내적 진실을탐구하고, 그것을 창의적인 사운드로 재현하여 대중과 나누도록 하는데 목적이있다. 자전적 영화가 작가 개인의 자기성찰을 돕고 개인의 이야기를 용기 있게나누는 것을 통해, 사운드가 영화의 시각적 부족함을 청각으로 메워주는 공론으로 발전될 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to present a sound design technique that not only conveys one’s own story as an objective fact, but develops it into a film that can capture individual subjective events and inner desires in the sound design of autobiographical films. To this end, we will see the potential of autobiographical materials and sounds and examine sound techniques and aspects that express the individual’s inner consciousness by combining the director’s personal story, the basis of the autobiographical story, with elements of hearing. In addition, based on the director’s inner consciousness, autobiographical narrative, and sound design techniques on these, the study will use the film , in which I participated as a sound designer, as an example, to present the specificity of sound design. As a result of the study, it can be seen that the sound design technique in the movie maximized the expression of the director’s inner consciousness by applying the formation of inner consciousness through narration technique and sound technique used in scene change. Through this case study, it was found that the narrative was led by a monologue, subjectivity and objectivity were demonstrated through sound, poetic method was led by using documentary techniques or inserting narration over the background music, passage of time was expressed through storytelling the, and the present and the future are overlapped through voice over. The autobiographical material of the film allows the director himself to approach the essence of the experience and create an experience in which the audience shares the inner essence of the experience. This study will be able to verify that sound design is a very suitable element that can actively express this process by resonating with the sound in a film. In addition, it can be confirmed that the sound of an autobiographical film becomes a creative medium that can sublimate personal experiences into the art of life. Everyone has their own story, but not everyone can turn it into a great sound. The goal of sound design for autobiographical films pursued in this study is to allow the director to approach his own story in a different way to explore the hidden truth, reproduce it with creative sound, and share it with the public. It is hoped that the autobiographical film will help the director’s introspection and courageously share his or her story so that the sound can develop into a public opinion that fills the visual deficiency of the film.
