균형-재균형 서사 구조에 따른 단편 애니메이션의 서사 초점 분석

국문 초록

단편 애니메이션은 스토리텔링의 예술 형식을 주로 사용하며, 그 스토리 구조는 적절한 서사 구조와 밀접한 관계가 있다. 또한 서사 정보의 전달은 전체 단편애니메이션의 성공에 영향을 끼치는 핵심 요소이고, 각종 서사 기법은 플롯의 부각에 도움을 주어 서사의 확장력을 강화한다. 그러나 단편 애니메이션의 서사 구조와 서사 기법에 대한 연구가 아직 부족하며, 본 연구는 츠베탕 토도로프(Tzvetan Todorov)와 제라드 주네트(Gerard Genette)의 서사 이론을 토대로 이론적 고찰을 통해 애니메이션(단편) 작품의 서사성에 대한 분석과 심층적인 연구가필요하다는 사실을 발견하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 츠베탕 토도로프 균형-재균형서사 구조의 5단계를 연구 프레임으로 하고, 제라드 주네트의 초점 이론을 분석기준으로 하여 와 의 두 단편 애니메이션에대해 초점 유형을 비교 분석을 진행하였다. 또한 서사 구조와 서사 초점의 사용을 통해 단편 애니메이션이 서사 기법에서 어떻게 점진적으로 관객의 몰입감을 강화하는지 탐구하였고, 이를 통해 본 연구는 단편 애니메이션 창작에 일정한 시사점뿐만 아니라 단편 애니메이션 연구에 더욱 가치 있는 참고를 제공하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Animated short films, a form of storytelling, cannot separate the arrangement of their stories from reasonable narrative structures. Besides, the delivery of narrative information can make a great difference to the success of an animated short film. Various narrative techniques can be applied to reinforce plots, thus enhancing narrative tension. There are, however, inadequate studies on narrative structures and techniques of animated short films. Through a theoretical review, this research finds that the narrative analysis of animation(short films) based on the narrative theories proposed by Tzvetan Todorov and Gerard Genette has not been deeply discussed. Therefore, under the framework of Todorov’s theory of equilibrium and disequilibrium, this research analyzes Piper and The House of Small Cubes according to Todorov’s five stages of a narrative structure and Genette’s theory of focalization to compare the differences in narrative focuses between the two short films. In addition, narrative structures and focuses are analyzed to explore how to make the audience more concentrated with the help of narrative techniques. It is hoped that this research can inspire animated short film creators and support the study of animated short films with more valuable references.
