또래와의 놀이에서 나타나는 유아의 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 또래와의 놀이에서 나타나는 유아의 내러티브를 관찰하여 미메시스와 환상내러티브의 특징을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 C시에 소재한 A어린이집 만 5세 유아 19명(남아 10명, 여아 9명)으로 자료수집과 분석은 2018년 6월 1일부터 12월 31일까지 약 7개월간 이루어졌다. 오전 자유놀이시간에 또래와의 놀이를 관찰하여 놀이에서 나타나는 내러티브를 수집하였으며, 관찰일지 및 연구자 일지 등 추가 자료를 함께 분석하였다. 또래와의 놀이에서 나타난 내러티브를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 미메시스 내러티브에서 현실에서의 경험을 재현하기도 하지만, 경험을 변형시키며, 현실을 뒤집는 내러티브를 만들었다. 둘째, 환상 내러티브에서는 불멸의 인물과 마법의 도구가 등장하였고, 신비한 공간과 신기한 사건으로 내러티브를 만들어나갔다. 유아들이 놀이에서 또래와 만들어낸 내러티브는 현실 경험의 모방과 재현을 넘어선 창조와 변형의 과정이며, 새로움을 형성해 나가는 미메시스로서 의미가 있다. 또한, 현실과 상상을 넘나들며 자유롭게 표현되는 환상의 내러티브는 유아에게 즐거움과 재미, 카타르시스를 느낄 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 죽이는 인물, 부수는 도구와 비현실적 사건이 등장하여 성인은 이러한 내러티브를 과격하게 여기고 금기하는 경향이 있으나 이는 유아의 관심과 욕구가 반영된 교육적 가치가 있는 것으로 인정해야 함을 강조하였다.

영문 초록

This study observed and analyzed young children’s narratives produced in peer play with respect to mimesis and fantasy. The peer play of nineteen children under the age of 5 (10 boys, and 9 girls) was observed for 7 months, and the children’s narratives were collected during morning peer play sessions. The observation diaries and researchers’ notes were analyzed. The analyses of the transcribed data showed that in the mimesis narrative, the children represented the experiences they had in reality; they transformed the reality and reversed it. Second, in the fantasy narrative, the children came up with immortal characters or magical tools, mysterious places or twilight events. The children’s narratives during peer play is not just a copy of past experiences. Instead, it is a creative process that involves change and transformation that goes beyond reality, and it is a mimesis process that forms a sense of newness or difference. In addition, the fantasy narrative helps children to express their desire or fear while freely crossing the borders between reality and imagination, enabling them joy, fun, and catharsis throughout the peer play process. Children’s narratives deserve to be acknowledged as to reveal their interest and, desires rather than tabooing their fantasies.
