개미 프로젝트 활동에 나타난 혼합연령 유아들의 지식형성 과정에 관한 의미 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 개미 프로젝트 활동에 나타난 혼합연령 유아들의 지식형성 과정의 의미를 분석하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 연구 대상은 P군에 소재한 병설유치원으로, 남아는 만5세 3명, 만4세 1명과 여아는 만5세 2명, 만4세 1명, 만 3세 1명으로 모두 8명이다. 연구 기간은 2018년 5월 8일부터∼7월 13일까지 총 10주에 걸쳐 개미 프로젝트 활동을 실시하고, 질적 분석하였다. 연구결과로 개미 프로젝트 활동에서 혼합연령 유아들의 지식형성 과정의 의미를 보면 첫째, 유아들이 협력하여 선정한 주제는 유아에게 새로운 지식을 탐색하게 한다. 그리고 질문(문제)해결을 위한 ZPD 내에서의 유아상호간의 교육적 지원(Scaffolding)으로 새로운 지식이 형성된다. 마무리 활동에서 유아들이 그동안 배운 개미 지식을 재방문하고 재표상하여 지식이 내면화된다. 둘째, 유아의 개미에 대한 오개념과 미흡한 개념은 구체적이고 정확한 과학적 지식이 된다. 본 연구결과를 통해, 혼합연령집단 유아들의 지식형성 과정에 프로젝트 접근법은 바람직한 교수 학습 방안이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate meanings of the knowledge formation process of mixed age young children in Ant Project Activities. The subjects attended public kindergarteners located in P subcounty. The participants consisted of 8 children in total: 3 boys aged 5 years, 1 boy aged, 4 years, and 2 girls aged 5 years, 1 girl aged, 4 years, and 1 girl aged, 3 years. The study was conducted from May 8th, 2018 to July 13th, 2018 for 10 weeks. Qualitative analysis was carried out. The results of this study are as follows. First, the knowledge formation process of mixed age young children in the Ant project shows that the children explored the knowledge of the topic selected by the children in cooperation with an interest. The children formed new knowledge in the role of the educational support system (Scaffolding) within the ZPD for solving problems. In addition, the children internalized the knowledge of ant by revisit and re-representation through the sharing and exhibition activities in the finishing activity. Second, the children improved their misconception and insufficient conception of ant to concrete and to gain accurate scientific knowledge. The results of this study suggest that the current Project Approach could be a desirable teaching and learning method for the knowledge formation process of a mixed age group of children.
