유아 언어교육 프로그램이 언어구성요인별 유아의 언어능력에 미치는 효과에 관한 메타분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아 언어교육 프로그램을 통해 언어구성요인별 언어능력을 향상시키고 그 효과를 검증한 연구들이 언어구성요인별 유아의 언어능력에 미치는 효과를 메타분석을 통해 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 2000년부터 2013년 1월 16일까지 국내에서 발표된 박사학위논문 및 등재지 논문 가운데 언어구성요인별 언어능력 향상을 위해 수행한 유아 언어교육 프로그램과 관련된 논문 59편을 대상으로 총 117개의 효과크기를 산출하였다. 연구결과 언어구성요인별 언어능력에 미치는 유아 언어교육 프로그램의 전체 효과크기는 .96으로 큰 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 언어구성요인별 하위변인인 음운론, 통사론, 의미론, 화용론에 미치는 유아 언어교육 프로그램의 효과크기는 모두 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한 유아 언어교육 프로그램이 언어구성요인별 언어능력에 미치는 연구 간 효과크기의 이질성에 대한 원인을 알아보기 위해 유아의 연령, 연구기관, 실험처치 시 집단유형과 실험집단의 인원 수, 실험처치 횟수 및 기간을 준거로 조절효과를 탐색해본 결과 실험집단 인원수가 연구 간 효과크기의 차이를 설명하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육 현장에서 언어구성요인별 유아의 언어능력 향상을 목표로 수행하고 있는 유아 언어교육 프로그램이 이를 향상시키는데 긍정적인 효과를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 언어구성요인별 언어능력 향상을 목표로 유아 언어교육 프로그램을 계획하고 설계할 때 다양한 조절변인들이 연구자의 편의가 아니라 선행연구의 고찰을 통해 이루어져야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of language art programs for young children on their language ability by language components through meta-analysis. To achieve this purpose, the subjects of meta-analysis for this study were 117 samples of effect size from 59 papers which corresponded with selection criteria among the studies which employed language art programs to enhance young children's language ability by language components and verified the effects. The result of this study shows that the language art programs for young children on the language ability by language components were very effective, where overall effect size was .96. And the effect size of the language art programs for young children on phonemics, syntax, semantics, pragmatics which are lower factors by the language components proved to be large. Furthermore, to investigate the cause of the difference in effect size of the influence of language art programs for young children on language ability by the language components, the regulation effect was explored based on children's age, type of institute, type of group in experiment, the number of children in an experiment group, the number of experimental treatment, the period of experimental treatment. As a result, it was confirmed that the number of children in an experiment group explains the difference of size effects between the studies. From the result of this study, it can be seen that language art programs for young children have the positive effect in improving language ability by language components and suggest that the various moderator variables have to be handled not by the researcher's convenience but the consideration of preceding research in planning and designing language art programs for young children.
