국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽기 활동이 유아의 읽기 흥미 및 이야기 이해력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 연구 대상은 사회·경제적 배경이 비슷한 2개 유치원에 재원중인 만5세 유아 40명(실험집단 20명, 비교집단 20명)이었다. 연구를 위해 실험 집단의 유아들에게는 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽기활동을 실시하였고, 비교집단의 유아들에게는 생활주제와 관련된 매번 다른 그림책 읽어주기 활동을 실시하였다. 연구결과 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽기 활동을 경험한 실험 집단의 유아들은 비교 집단 유아들보다 읽기 흥미와 이야기 이해력이 향상되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽기가 유아의 읽기 흥미와 이야기 이해력에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽기활동이 유아의 읽기 흥미와 이야기 이해력 향상에 효과적인 교수학습 방법이 될 수 있음을 시사하는 것이므로 유아교육현장에서 다양한 방식의 반복적 그림책 읽어주기 활동은 확대되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of repeated reading picture books in various methods on the reading interest and story comprehension of young children. The subjects of the study were 40 young children aged 5, and equally divided into the experimental group of attending M kindergarten annexed elementary school located in Paju city, Gyeonggi-do, and the control group of attending J kindergarten annexed to elementary school located in the same city as M kindergarten. The experimental group did repeated reading picture books in various methods with only 1 book related to life themes 3 times a week as a large group. Repeated reading picture books in various methods with a peer group or a teacher was performed by providing reading picture books for free choice activities. The control group did reading picture books activities in a general method with 3 different books which were provided for free choice activities 3 times a week. The results of the study were as follows : First, the reading interest of the experimental group experienced repeated reading picture books in various methods was more improved than the control group. Second, the story comprehension of the experimental group experienced repeated reading picture books in various methods was more enhanced than the control group. In conclusion, reading picture books in various methods needs to be extended at early childhood education field as the results suggest that repeated reading picture books in various methods can be effective teaching-learning method for improving the reading interest and story comprehension of young children.
