도서관에서의 어린이 문학교육 프로그램 적용: ‘스토리텔링 극화하기와 책 읽어주기’의 의미

국문 초록

본 연구는 도서관에서의 질 높은 어린이 문학교육프로그램의 개발을 위한 기초연구를 목적으로 도서관에서의 ‘스토리텔링 극화하기와 책 읽어주기’(STAR) 프로그램의 구성 및 적용이 유아, 부모, 교사, 도서관에게 어떤 의미가 있는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 구성된 STAR 프로그램이 도서관의 프로그램 개설로 모집된 16명의 4-5세 유아들에게 적용되었고, 그 과정의 녹화 전사, 연구저널, 면담의 녹음 전사, 부모의 설문지, 유아의 작품 등을 분석하였다. 도서관에서의 스토리텔링 극화하기와 책 읽어주기는 교사의 주도적 이야기 짓기로부터 작가로서의 유아 인식, 유아의 관심사의 레퍼토리 공유, 다양한 사회적 상호작용자로서 이야기 구성의 동반자, 발현적 문식성 교육, 문학적 참여의 즐거움, 지역사회에서 유아․부모․교사․도서관의 교육공동체 형성의 의미가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구결과는 지역사회에서 구성원의 협력에 의한 문학교육프로그램의 실천이 어린이가 삶 속에서 질 높은 문학적 경험을 할 가능성을 높여준다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the meaning of 'Story Telling, Acting, and Reading'(STAR) to children, parents, a teacher, and library staff, that is a preliminary study on development of high-quality literature education program for young children at public library. The participants are sixteen children and their mothers who are enrolled in the STAR program offered by a researcher at the S children's library in S city. The data analyzed consists of the transcripts of recording during the STAR process, as well as research journals, transcripts of interviews, responses to questionnaires for mothers, and children's works. The analysis reveals that the STAR program constructs meaning for children, parents, a teacher, and library staff in changing from teacher-led story-making to teacher's recognition as children's leading role of story-making, sharing repertoire of interests, establishing partnerships in story-making through diverse social interaction, providing a chance of the emergent literacy education and the pleasure of literary participation, and shaping the relationships of educational community with outside experts and parents. The results suggest that the practice of literature education collaborated with members of the community may heighten the possibility of providing high-quality literary experience for children.
