그림책에 나타난 전쟁의 이미지 분석 : 2011~2021년 출판물을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 전쟁에 관한 그림책의 텍스트를 통하여 작가가 독자에게 전하고자 하거나 독자가 새롭게 구성해 나갈 수 있는 이미지를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2011년부터 2021년까지 출판된 전쟁 관련 그림책 34권을 선정하여 전쟁 관련 그림책의 장르와 역사적 배경, 주인공, 전쟁 관련 용어, 전쟁의 원인과 결과를 중심으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 역사픽션이 일반픽션보다 두배 넘게 많은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 역사픽션의 역사적 배경으로 ‘6.25 전쟁’이 가장 많이 나타났다. 셋째, 전쟁을 겪는 어린이 주인공이 어른에 비해서 더 많이 나타났으며, 성별은 남자 주인공이 여자 주인공보다 더 많이 나타났다. 어린이와 어른 주인공 내에서의 성비를 알아본 결과, 남성으로서 어른 주인공이 가장 많이 나타났다. 넷째, 다양한 용어가 전쟁, 정서, 무기, 상해/죽음, 군인, 장소, 기타 영역에서 구체적으로 묘사되었다. 다섯째, 전쟁의 원인에 대하여는 대부분이 잘 나타나지 않았으며 전쟁의 결과는 죽음, 피난, 헤어짐, 구속/속박, 기타의 순으로 표현되었다. 그림책의 전쟁 이미지들은 전쟁 속에서 겪게 되는 인간의 군상을 실제적으로 조명하고 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the images that the author wants to convey to the reader or that the reader can newly construct through the text of picture books about war. To this end, 34 war picture books published from 2011 to 2021 were selected and analyzed focusing on the genre and historical background of the war picture books, main characters, war-related terms, and causes and effects of the war. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that there were more than twice as many historical fiction as general fiction picture books. Second, the ‘6.25 War’ appeared the most as a historical background for historical fiction. Third, there were more child protagonists who went through war than adults, and in terms of gender, there were more male protagonists than female protagonists. As a result of examining the sex ratio within children and adult protagonists, adult protagonists appeared the most as men. Fourth, various terms were specifically described for war, emotion, weapons, injury/death, soldiers, places, and other areas. Fifth, most of the causes of the war were not well expressed, and the results of the war were expressed in the order of death, evacuation, separation, restraint/binding, and others. The war images in the picture book actually shed light on the experiences of the human group in the war.
