그림책 감상 활동에서 나타나는 다문화가정 유아의 언어능력의 특성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 다문화가정 유아들이 자신의 생각과 느낌을 표현하는 언어능력을 알아보는데 목적을 두고, 그림책 감상활동에서 나타난 다문화가정 유아들의 언어 특성을 도출하였다. 이를 위하여 다문화가정 유아와 단일문화배경 유아가 동일한 수로 이루어진 소집단을 구성하여 그림책 감상 활동을 진행하고 이때 나타난 언어반응을 전사하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화가정 유아의 그림책에 대한 반응은 그림책의 시각 정보에 대한 즉각적인 반응이 많았고 그림책의 이해는 표면적 이해 수준이었다. 둘째, 다문화가정 유아의 언어능력은 개인차가 컸다. 어휘력과 문장표현력에서 사용 어휘와 문장의 양은 많고 유창하였으나 질적으로 정확한 어휘사용과 문장 표현능력은 부족하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 다문화가정 유아의 언어지도를 위해서는 개별 유아에 대한 더 깊이 있는 파악과 지도가 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the language ability of children from multicultural families to express their thoughts and feelings, and to derive the language characteristics of children from multicultural families shown in picture book appreciation activities. For this purpose, children from multicultural families and children from a single culture formed a small group composed of the same number to conduct picture book appreciation activities, and their language responses were transcribed and analyzed. The study results are as follows. First, the reaction of the children from multicultural families to the picture books was immediate to the visual information of the picture books, and there was a lack of in-depth understanding of picture books. Second, there was a large individual difference in the language ability of the children from multicultural families. In particular, there were differences in the frequency and attitude of verbal responses. Third, in terms of vocabulary, there was a quantitative and qualitative discrepancy. There was also a quantitative and qualitative inconsistency in the sentence expression of the children from multicultural families, resulting in a lack of fluency and accuracy. The results of this study suggest that a more in-depth understanding and guidance on individual infants is needed for language instruction of children from multicultural families.
