자연물을 활용한 영아의 탐구 경험에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 가정어린이집 실내에 자연물로 환경을 구성한 후 영아들의 탐구활동 전개와 특성을 관찰을 통해 알아본 질적연구이다. 본 연구의 연구 장소는 J 도에 있는 가정어린이집으로, 연구참여자는 0세 반 3명, 1세 반 5명, 2세 반 5명의 영아와 각 반의 담임교사 3명이다. 연구 절차는 영아들에게 자연물을 제공 후 탐구하는 과정을 관찰하고 이를 분석하여 결과를 정리하였다. 연구결과는 지식의 획득의 기회, 다양한 탐구방법 활용, 영아탐구 과정의 의미로 정리되었다. 이를 구체적으로 정리하면, 먼저 자연물 탐구는 영아들에게 지식 획득의 기회가 되었는데, 물리적 특성의 이해와 새로운 어휘의 사용 경험이 되었다. 둘째, 자연물을 활용한 탐구에 있어 영아들은 다양한 탐구 행동을 보였다. 탐구에 있어 영아들은 감각을 활용하거나 힘을 활용한 물질의 변화를 탐색하는 방법을 경험하였다. 영아들은 대개 새로운 자연물을 들여다보다가 만지고, 일련의 조작을 시도하였으며, 나중에 좀 더 큰 동작으로 발이나 몸을 사용하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 영아에게 탐구과정의 의미는 촉각탐색을 통하여 탐구대상과 친해지기, 탐구행동의 연계와 반복적 적용, 탐구와 놀이의 순환 등으로 정리되었다. 본 연구결과는 자연환경에서 접할 수 있는 자연물을 교실로 들여와서 구체적이고 지속적으로 탐구함으로써 영아의 외부실외 활동의 한계를 극복하는 데 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is a qualitative study to investigate the development of inquiry activities and characteristics of infants and toddlers after constructing an indoor environment with natural materials in a home-based daycare center. This study carried out in a home-based daycare center in J province, and the participants were 3 infants of 0 year olds class, 5 toddlers in 1 year olds class and 5 toddlers in 2 year olds class and 3 childcare teachers. As for the research procedure, the results were summarized by observing the process of exploration after providing a natural objects in the daycare center class and analyzing it. The results were summarized as follows: the exploration of natural objects became an opportunity for infants and toddlers to acquire knowledge, and it became an experience of understanding physical characteristics and using new vocabulary. Second, in exploring using natural objects, infants and toddlers showed various inquiry behaviors. In exploration, infants experienced a method of exploring material changes using senses or power. It was found that infants and toddlers usually looked into and touched new natural objects, tried a series of manipulations, and later used their feet or body through large muscle movements. Third, the meaning of the inquiry process for infants and toddlers were organized into becoming familiar with the subject of inquiry through tactile exploration, connection and repeated application of inquiry behavior, and circulation of inquiry and play. The results of this study will help to overcome the limitations of infants’ and toddlers’ external nature exploration by bringing natural objects that can be encountered in the natural environment into the classroom and exploring them concretely and continuously.
