대학의 교양인증제 개발 및 적용 연구: S대학 사례를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 S대학교 교양대학에서 개발·운영한 교양인증제의 모형과 실제 적용 결과를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 기존 교양교육은 교과 중심 운영으로 비교과 활동과 역량 기반 성과를 반영하는 데 한계가 있었으며, 이에 교과·비교과를 통합한 인증체계 구축의 필요성이 제기되었다. 연구는 Richey와 Klein(2012)의 모형개발 연구방법을 적용하였다. 문헌 검토와 국내 사례 분석을 통해 인증 요소를 도출하고, 전문가 자문을 거쳐 두 가지 모형을 설계하였다. 이후 S대학교에 적합한 ‘Bright Star 인증제’를 선정하여 2023학년도 졸업예정자를 대상으로 운영하였다. 운영 결과, 졸업예정자 1,641명 중 19명(1.1%)만 인증을 획득하였으며, 대부분은 계획적 준비보다는 우연히 요건을 충족하였다. 비교과 참여는 특정 프로그램에 집중되었고, 융합트랙 이수는 전무하였다. 이는 제도 인식 부족과 부서 간 협력 한계를 보여주며, 개선방안으로 통합 관리 시스템 구축, 협의체 운영, 학생 동기 강화 등을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 교양인증제가 교과·비교과·역량평가를 유기적으로 연결하는 교육모형으로 발전할 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study examined the development and implementation of a general education certification system at S University and analyzes its initial outcomes. Conventional general education has been course-centered, with limited integration of extracurricular and competency-based achievements. Consequently, the objective of the present study was to establish an integrated certification framework. The model development approach of Richey and Klein (2012) was employed to derive certification elements through a comprehensive literature review and domestic case analysis. The development of two prototype models was informed by expert consultation, and the “Bright Star Certification” was selected for implementation in the 2023 graduating cohort. Among the 1,641 candidates, only 19 students (1.1%) obtained certification, primarily through incidental fulfillment rather than deliberate planning. Participation in extracurricular programs was concentrated in specific areas, while there was an absence of interdisciplinary track completion. These findings suggest a lack of awareness, inadequate information, and insufficient interdepartmental collaboration. The proposed improvement measures include the establishment of an integrated management system, the formation of interdepartmental committees, and the enhancement of student motivation. The findings indicate that a liberal arts certification system can function as a paradigm, integrating curricular, extracurricular, and competency assessment components, thereby establishing a foundation for outcome-based general education.
