국문 초록

본 논문은 숨밭 김경재가 폴 틸리히의 신론을 수용하고 해석하는 과정과 내용을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 김경재는 틸리히 신론을 일방적으로 수용하지 않고 주체적으로 대화하고 응답하며 해석한다. 해석의 과정은 김경재 안의 두 정체성에 따라 수행된다. 하나는 그리스도인으로서이고 다른 하나는 동아시아 한국의 전통 안에 있는 그리스도인으로서이다. 틸리히의 신관은 그 철학적이고 존재론적인 형식과 내용으로 인하여 성서의 하나님과 합치가 되는가 라는 논쟁점을 가지고 있는데, 김경재는 틸리히의 신관을 성서의 맥락에서 수용한다. 이에 그는 ‘존재 자체’ (being-itself)를 성서 본문과 연결짓는 시도를 한다. 한편으로 김경재는 동양의 한국인이자 그리스도인으로서 동양 사상 안에서 ‘존재 자체’에 상응하는 개념 찾기를 시도한다. 모든 존재하는 것들의 근거이자 힘이 되는 존재 자체와 그 개념이 비기독교 문화권에서도 존재할 것이기 때문이다. 특히 김경재는 동양의 도(道) 사상을 ‘존재 자체’와 잇기를 시도한다. 김경재는 틸리히 신론 해석의 작업을 통하여 그리스도교의 신앙과 동양 사상 사이의 공명 지점을 예리한 통찰로 짚어내나, 환원시키거나 혼합하지는 않는다. 그는 성서와 동양 사상 사이의 차이점을 분명하게 진술한다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to elucidate the process and content of Soombat Kim Kyoung Jae's reception and interpretation of Paul Tillich's doctrine of God. Kim Kyoung Jae subjectively discusses Tillich’s doctrine of God, responds to it, and interprets it, instead of uncritically accepting it. This engagement progresses according to two identities held dear: one as a Christian and the other as a Christian rooted in the traditions of Korea in East Asia. Questions have been asked of Tillich's doctrine of God, whether its philosophical and ontological approach aligns with the God of the Bible. However, Kim Kyoung Jae accepts Tillich's doctrine of God within the Bible. Furthermore, Kim Kyoung Jae attempted to connect biblical passages identifyin God with ‘being-itself.’ Kim Kyoung Jae also comparatively explored the concept of ‘being-itself’ within Eastern thought as a Korean Christian because being-itself, the ground and power of all beings, also exists in non-Christian cultural regions. Kim Kyoung Jae attempted to connect Eastern Taoist thought with being-itself. As shown, Kim Kyoung Jae identifies points of resonance between Christian faith and Eastern thought with sharp insight, yet he neither reduces nor blends them. He clearly shows the differences between the Bible and Eastern thought.
