본 논문은 숨밭 김경재의 성령론 이해를 그가 진행하였던 1997년의 성령론 강의와 저술을 토대로 심층적으로 고찰한다. 숨밭의 성령론은 전통적 삼위일체론의 구도 속에서 경험, 상호내주(perichoresis), 종말론적 생명이라는 세 가지 축을 중심으로 독자적인 신학적 사유를 전개한다. 그는 슐라이어마허의 신학적 내재주의와 바르트의 계시 중심 신학을 비 판적으로 수용하면서, 경험을 단순히 주관적 사건이 아니라 공동체적·우주적 차원에서 재해석한다. 특히 필리오케 논쟁, 성령의 교회적 유폐, 그리스도 중심주의의 한계에 대한 분석을 통해 성령의 자유로운 활동과 우주적 현존을 강조한다. 또한 몰트만의 종말론적 성령 이해를 비판적으로 계승하여, 성령을 새로운 생명의 창발(emergence)과 해방의 원리로 파악한다. 숨밭의 성령론은 성령을 교회의 제도적 범주 안에 가두지 않고, 역사와 자연, 공동체와 개인의 삶 속에서 끊임없이 새로움을 창조하는 하나님의 현존 사건으로 이해한다. 이러한 논의는 한국적 맥락에서 영성, 생명, 경험을 신학적으로 사유하는 새로운 지평을 열며, 성령론이 단순한 교의적 체계에 머무르지 않고 한국의 고유한 문화적 차원으로 풍성하게 확장될 수 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This article undertakes an in-depth study of the pneumatology of Kim Kyoung-Jae (Soombat), focusing on his 1997 lecture series on the Holy Spirit as well as his related writings. Kim’s pneumatology develops along three central axes within the framework of classical Trinitarian theology: experience, perichoresis, and eschatological life. While critically engaging Schleiermacher’s theological immanentism and Barth’s revelation-centered theology, Kim reinterprets experience not merely as a subjective phenomenon but as an event of divine presence in communal and cosmic dimensions. In particular, his analysis of the filioque controversy, the ecclesial captivity of the Spirit, and the limitations of Christocentrism highlights the freedom and universality of the Spirit’s activity. Furthermore, drawing critically on Moltmann’s eschatological pneumatology, Kim conceives of the Spirit as the principle of emergence and liberation that generates new life. His pneumatology thus refuses to confine the Spirit within institutional boundaries of the church, instead understanding the Spirit as the event of God’s presence that continuously creates newness in history, nature, community, and personal existence. This perspective opens a new horizon for theological reflection on spirituality, life, and experience within the Korean context, demonstrating that pneumatology need not remain a merely doctrinal construct but may be richly expanded into Korea’s distinctive cultural and existential dimensions.
