전근대 축성자료로 본 신라 築城에서의 役夫와 石工

국문 초록

본고는 전근대 축성자료에 보이는 石城의 구조와 축성 프로세스의 보편적 속성을 통해 신라의 문헌사료와 축성 금석문에 나타난 역부와 석공의 산정과 동원, 역할 등을 종합적으로 이해하고자 하였다. 조선 태조대와 세종대의 한양도성, 선조대의 금오산성, 영조대의 전주성 등의 축성자료를 통해, 축성 절차와 공정의 특징과 역부 산정 방식, 공사시기에 따른 역부 동원 문제, 석공의 수와 동원 시기가 전체 축성 운영에 미치는 영향 등을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 신라에서도 지방의 축성은 중앙정부의 명령 또는 허가가 선행되었고, 비관할지역에 대한 역부 징발권은 지역범위와 인원을 제한받았으며, 공사 규모에 따라 필요한 역부의 수를 산정하거나 조율해서 공사했음을 알 수 있었다. <남산신성비>에 기재된 石工은 성벽에 사용된 성돌을 가공했다. 남산신성을 축조할 때 공역조직마다 석공을 일정하게 배치하여, 공사 현장에서 축성 기술을 균일하게 구사하려 시도했다.

영문 초록

This article attempted to comprehensively understand the method and role of calculating the number of workers and stonemasons in Silla's literature sources and the fortress building epigraph through pre-modern fortress building documents. Reviewing fortress construction materials from the Joseon Dynasty, the calculation of the station according to the difference between the construction procedure and process, the mobilization of the Workers and Stonemason according to the construction period, and the impact of the number and mobilization period on the overall construction operation of the building were examined. Based on this, it was found that even in Silla, local construction was preceded by orders or permission from the central government, the right to requisition for non-jurisdictional areas was limited in regional scope and number of workers, and the number of workers needed was coordinated according to the size of the construction. The stonemasons listed in “Namsanshinseong Epigraph” trimmed the stones used in the walls. It can be seen that an attempt was made to uniformly utilize building technology by uniformly arranging stonemasons for each construction organization when constructing Namsanshinseong.
