19세기 조선 회화에 나타난 차도구와 음다 양상

국문 초록

본 연구는 19세기 조선 화가 13명이 그린 32점의 차그림을 대상으로 당시 차도구와 음다법 파악을 목적으로하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비다인과 공간에 관한 것이다. 회화에는 야외 공간의 풍로 앞에서 차를 준비하는 동자뿐 아니라 실내 공간의 화로 뒤로 실존 인물이 묘사된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 포다도구의 유입에 관한 것이다. 그림에는 풍로와 탕관뿐 아니라 다관, 개완과 같은 차를 우려마시는 중국차도구도 등장하였으나 근현대 한국에서 사용하는 횡파형 다관은 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 19세기 조선의 음다법에 관한 것이다. 회화에는 다관과 개완과같은 포다도구가 등장하여 차를 우려마시는 포다법이 시행되었을 것으로 유추되었지만 이 차도구는 장식된 책가도와 기명도에만 나타나고 있어서 상용보다는 주로 완상을 위한 용도였을 것으로 파악되었다. 결과적으로, 19세기차그림에는 18세기 차그림에 나타난 실외 공간에서 다동이 풍로를 다루는 전다법 묘사를 지속하면서 새로운 포다도구, 포다법, 실존 인물상, 실내 공간으로 차문화의 범위가 넓혀진 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study examined tea culture and the ritual for drinking tea during the 19th century Joseon Dynasty, targeting 32 tea paintings by 13 Joseon painters in the 19th century. The results are as follows. First, the artworks depicted the spaces and people who prepared the tea. In 19th century paintings, the learned scholar was depicted with a brazier in an indoor space, along with young children preparing tea in front of a wind furnace in an outdoor space. Second, the artworks revealed the characteristics of tea utensils. In the painting, the wind furnace, tea kettle, and tea utensils such as tea pots and covered tea bowls appeared. On the other hand, the teapot with a stick-type handle used in modern Korea did not appear in the painting. Third, the artworks depicted the drinking tea method during the Joseon Dynasty in the 19th century. The teapot and covered tea bowl appeared in the painting, and it appears that the tea brewing method had been implemented. Because these tea tools appeared only in decorated Chaekkori and Gimyeong paintings, it is believed that they were mainly for appreciation rather than daily use. As a result, the 19th-century tea painting expanded to new tea utensils for brewing, how to brew tea, real figures, and indoor spaces, while continuing to describe the tea boiling method of dealing with wind furnaces in 18th century tea paintings.
