국문 초록

경봉선사(鏡峰禪師, 1892-1982)는 우리나라 근현대 불교계를 대표하는 선승(禪僧)으로, 또 생활 속의 선차문화(禪茶文化)를 주도한 다승(茶僧)으로 32편의 다시(茶詩)를 남겼다. 경봉은 사부대중(四部大衆)들을 대상으로 다양한 상황에서 깊이 있 는 선차정신이 내재된 다시를 남겼다. 경봉은 일상다반사(日常茶飯事)의 선풍(禪 風)을 바탕으로, 일상생활 그대로가 불법(佛法)’이라고 설파하면서, 염다래(拈茶來)의 일완청다(一椀淸茶)를 통해 차 마시는 일을 통해 선을 생활화하고 대중화하고자 했다. 경봉은 다선일미(茶禪一味)의 정신을 가지고 선과차를 나누는 일을 실천함으로써 사부대중들을 위로하고 격려하는 한편, 용기와 희망을 주어 자비심을 가지고세상을 살아가도록 했다. 이러한 경봉의 차정신은 조주(趙州)의 다풍(茶風)을 이어간 것으로 본래의 마음자리를찾지 못해 방황하는 현대인들에게 지표가 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Zen Master Gyeongbong (1892-1982) was a representative Zen monk of modern and contemporary Buddhism in Korea and a tea monk who led Zen tea culture. He was well-versed in poetry, calligraphy, painting, tea, and Zen and was called one of the five perfections. He was also highly regarded for his artistry. While continuing his intense Zen practice, Gyeongbong delivered many sermons to educate sentient beings and left behind 32 tea poems that combined tea and Zen. Based on the Zen style of daily tea, Gyeongbong preached that everyday life is Budda's Dharma. Gyeongbong's attempt to popularize tea drinking and practice Zen through Yeomdarae's Ilwancheongda was a continuation of Joju's tea culture. Gyeongbong's teaching that “we should use the Saha world as a stage and put on a great play” is to practice the spirit of Daseonilmi in that tea and Zen are one in people's daily lives. In this way, Gyeongbong comforted and encouraged the four classes of people through tea and Zen, giving them courage and hope so that they could live in the world with compassion. Gyeongbong's tea spirit is significant because it can serve as a guide for modern people who are wandering without finding their original place in their hearts.
