국문 초록

이 연구는 한국 포스트모던 질적 연구의 주요 동향과 그 특징을 비평하고, 방법적으로 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 통해 한국 질적 연구의 영역과 연구 문제들이 어떻게 새롭게 규명되어야 하는가를 보다 체계적으로 제시하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 인문·사회과학 분야의 다양한 학술 연구 및 문헌을 수집하여 내용 분석과 문서분석을 통해 검토하였다. 분석을 위해 먼저, 포스트모던 사유와 철학을 바탕으로 다음 네 가지 개념적 기준을 설정하였다: 1) 메타내러티브의 거부와 차이에 대한 탐구, 2) 지식에 대한 권력적 탐구, 3) 인간의 주관성과 위치성 탐구, 4) 비언어적 상징과 표상 체계의 탐구. 연구 결과, 포스트모던 연구 패러다임 내에서 이루어진 다양한 한국 질적 연구들이 이 네 가지 특징을 중심으로 효과적으로 검토되고 설명되었다. 따라서 이 연구는 한국의 질적 연구자들이 포스트모던 연구 전통의 새로운 발견, 의미, 그리고 잠재적 가치를 보다 성숙한 형태로 확장하고 이론화하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to critique and methodologically explore the key trends and characteristics of postmodern qualitative research in Korea. Through this analysis, it systematically presents how the scope of qualitative research and research questions in Korea should be newly defined. The findings of this study are as follows. For the purpose, academic works and literatures from various kinds of human and social sciences area were collected and analyzed through content and document analysis. For the analysis, four analytical concepts were developed from the readings of postmodern literatures and philosphies as criteria of contents analysis of those document: 1) Rejection of metanarratives and exploration of difference, 2) Power analysis in knowledge production, 3) Examination of human subjectivity and positionality, and 4) Inquiry of non-liguistic forms of writing and representation. As research results, much kinds of qualitative research works in postmodern research paradigm in South Korean were effectively reviewed and explained with those four features. Thus, this new historical review of this inquiry is believed to enable South Korean qualitative research scholar to develop new understanding of the new discovery, meaings, and possible value of this research tradition to more mature exapansion and theorization of qualitaive research discourse in South Korea.
