영화 <아무르>를 통해 본 후기노인의 삶과 죽음 - 죽음이 배제된 삶, 삶이 배제된 죽음

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 영화 〈아무르〉에 재현된 후기노인의 삶과 죽음을 사회복지학적 관점에서 분석·이해하는 것이다. 이에 영화 장면과 대본을 주인공 부부인 후기노인의 삶과 죽음에 초점을 맞추어 내러티브 탐구 방법에 따라 분석하였다. 그 결과, 이들은 프랑스 파리에 거주하는 전직 음대교수인 80대 부부로서 경제·문화·사회·가정적으로는 안온한 중산층의 후기노년기를 보내고 있었다. 그러나 이러한 이들의 후기노년기 삶 속에서는 죽음이 준비되지 못한 채 배제되어 있었다. 그러다 아내가 뇌졸중 증상을 보이면서, 이들의 안온한 중산층의 후기노년기 삶은 (피)돌봄과 죽음의 이중적 무게로 소진되어 가는 죽어감의 과정으로 급격히 변화되고 있었다. 그리고 이들의 이러한 삶이 배제된 죽어감의 과정은 급기야 각각 타살과 자살이라는 비극적 결말로써 앞당겨 끝이 나고 있었다. 즉, 이들 부부의 후기노인으로서의 삶은 죽음이 준비되지 못한, 배제된 삶이었고, 이들의 죽음은 삶이 배제된 죽어감을 거쳐 앞당겨진 것이었다. 이에, 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 후기노인의 삶과 죽음에 시사하는 함의를 사회복지학적 관점에서 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze and understand the life and death of the latter-life elderly in the movie 〈Amour〉 from a social welfare perspective. Accordingly, the scenes and scripts of the film were analyzed using the narrative inquiry method, focusing on the lives and death of the main couple, the latter-life elderly. As a result, they are a couple in their 80s, retired music professors living in Paris, France, and they are enjoying a comfortable middle-class latter-life old age economically, culturally, socially, and familiarly. However, in their latter-life old age, death was excluded and unprepared for. Then the wife suffered a storke, and their comfortable middle-class latter-life lives were rapidly transforming into a dying process that was exhausting under the dual pain of care and death. And the dying process from which these lives were excluded was finally brought to a tragic end of murder and suicide. That is, the lives of this couple in their latter-life old age were lives in which deaths were excluded, and their deaths were brought forward through death in which lives were excluded. Based on these findings, the implications for the life and death of the latter-life elderly were discussed from a social welfare perspective.
