국문 초록

본 연구는 자녀의 비자살적 자해에 대처한 경험이 있는 아버지들의 삶의 이야기를 통해 그들에게 형성된 경험의 의미를 시간적·공간적 흐름에 따라 연구한 내러티브 탐구이다. 수집된 연구 자료들을 바탕으로 자녀의 비자살적 자해에 대처한 경험을 지닌 연구참여자들에 의해 이야기된 삶의 경험과 의미는 <아버지가 되어감>과 <아버지의 대처>로서 나누어져 총 10개의 주제가 나타났다. <아버지가 되어감>에는 ‘부모는 나를 위해, 나는 부모를 위해’, ‘대물림된 부모로서의 정체성’, ‘고되었던 삶이었지만 당연히 해야 할 도리’, ‘지켜내고 싶었으나 지켜내지 못함’이 나타났으며, <아버지의 대처>는 ‘자해를 이해하고, 자녀를 이해하고’, ‘나를 내던지는 희생으로 지켜내기’, ‘희망과 기대로 버텨냄’ ‘끊임없이 요동치는 마음을 다잡기’, ‘나를 지킴으로서 자녀를 지켜내기’, ‘일상을 공유하기’로 나타났다. 본 연구는 자녀의 비자살적 자해를 경험한 아버지의 대처에 대한 직접적인 사례를 다룬 최초의 질적 연구로서 자녀의 비자살적 자해를 경험한 아버지, 혹은 부모 대상의 심층적인 질적 연구를 확장시키는 자료로써 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 특히 본 연구결과에서 나타난 아버지의 대처를 통해 본능적 지킴과 같은 부성의 개념과 역할을 발견하였음에 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

This study is a narrative inquiry that studies the meaning of experiences formed by fathers who have experience coping with their children’s non-suicidal self-injury through their life stories according to the flow of time and space. Based on the collected research data, the life experiences and meanings told by the research participants who have experience coping with their children’s non-suicidal self-injury were divided into and , and a total of 15 themes emerged. included ‘Parents for me, I for my parents’, ‘I have inherited my identity as a parent’, ‘It was a hard life, but it was a duty that I had to do’, ‘I wanted to protect them, but I couldn’t’, ‘I lost my mother and myself’, and ‘I lost my opportunity as a father’. included ‘Understanding self-injury, understanding children’, ‘Protecting them by sacrificing myself’, ‘Enduring with hope and expectation’, ‘Staying in control of my constantly fluctuating mind’, ‘Protecting my children by protecting myself’, ‘Sharing daily life’, ‘Resolving the triggering incident of self-injury’, ‘Protecting them by regaining my role as a father’, and ‘Learning about fatherhood’. This study is the first qualitative study that directly deals with cases of fathers who have experienced their children’s non-suicidal self-injury, and it can be used as data to expand in-depth qualitative research targeting fathers or parents who have experienced their children’s non-suicidal self-injury. In particular, the significance of this study lies in the discovery of the concept and role of fatherhood, such as instinctive protection, through the father’s response.
