국문 초록

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship among grit, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning ability among dental hygiene students and to identify factors that affect self-directed learning ability. Methods: The survey was conducted on 172 dental hygiene students in Daegu from June to September 2024. The analysis was conducted using 12 grit, 45 problem-solving abilities, and 45 self-directed learning abilities. Using SPSS version 18.0, differences in grit, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning ability according to general characteristics were compared through t-test and ANOVA. Multiple regression analysis was conducted on factors affecting self-directed learning ability. Results: The subjects' grit was 3.08 ± 0.50 points, problem-solving ability was 3.51 ± 0.50 point(on a 5-point scale), and self-directed learning ability was 3.25 ± 0.40 points. There was a significant positive correlation between grit and problem-solving ability (r=.260, p<.001). A significant positive correlation was also found between problem-solving ability and self-directed learning ability (r=.720, p<.000). Factors that significantly influenced self-directed learning ability were grit (β = 0.300, p < .001) and problem-solving ability (β = 0.619, p < .001), with a total explanatory power of 62.4%. Conclusions: The results of this study confirmed the relationship between dental hygiene students' grit, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning ability, and can be used as basic data to improve dental hygiene students' self-directed learning ability.
