국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나-19 팬데믹과 엔데믹 이후 사회 전반에 확산된 ‘혐오’가 개인의 감정을 넘어 정치적 정서의 핵심에 위치하고 있는 현상에 주목하고, 이에 대한 실천적 대안으로 ‘사랑의 회복’에 대한 사유를 제안한다. 특히 라깡의 사유를 통해 ‘사랑’의 개념을 주체의 욕망과 타자 간의 상호작용 속에서 탐구한다. 연구는 A.R. Gurney의 <러브레터>에 등장하는 앤디와 멜리사의 ‘사랑’을 라깡의 ‘상상계-상징계-실재계’의 영역을 통해 고찰함으로써 ‘사랑’이 단순한 감정의 발현이 아닌, 결핍된 주체가 타자와의 관계 속에서 ‘끊임없이 미끄러짐을 반복하는’ 불완전한 욕망의 구조임을 밝혀낸다. 이를 통해 ‘사랑’은 결핍된 주체가 불가능한 실재의 소망을 추구하는 상징적 순환의 과정으로 파악할 수 있게 된다. 따라서 본 연구는 ‘혐오’가 사회적 병폐의 핵심으로 작용하고 있는 오늘날, ‘사랑’이 인간성 회복과 사회적·윤리적 연대의 기초가 될 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 또한 본 연구는 배우가 활용할 수 있는 텍스트 분석 도구로서 정신분석론적 연구방법의 유의미한 가능성까지도 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the phenomenon of hatred spreading around society since the COVID-19 pandemic, found as the center of political sentiments beyond individual feelings, proposing thoughts about restoration of love as a practical alternative to it. The study reorganized the concept of love, based on Lacan's thoughts and investigated it in interactions between the subject's desire and others. This study examined the love between Andy and Melissa in Love Letters by A.R. Gurney in the domains of the imaginary, symbolic, and real orders as categorized by Lacan, finding that love was in a structure of incomplete desire - repeating a slide endlessly - in relationship between the subject with a deficiency and others, rather than the manifestation of a simple feeling. Based on this, the study found that the concept of love was an unstable symbolic process to seek the wish of impossible existence by the subject with a deficiency. This study proposes the possibility that love can be a basis of humanity's restoration through social and ethical solidarity in today's world where hatred is working as the core of social ills. In addition, the study implies the significant possibilities of psychoanalytical methodologies as a tool for actors to analyze their texts.
