국문 초록

Objectives: To examine the association between digital health awareness and educational needs of virtual reality (VR) among university students majoring in optometry and dental hygiene. Methods: An online survey targeting optometry and dental hygiene university students in the Chungnam region was conducted between December 1, 2024, and March 15, 2025. Research tools included digital health, VR awareness, and educational VR simulation needs. Data was analyzed using IBM SPSS version 25.0. Results: First, there was a significant difference between VR awareness and the perceived need for VR simulation within the context of digital health changes, the need for digital health education, participation in digital health education, and the effect of digital health education. Second, a positive correlation was observed between digital health awareness, VR awareness, and educational VR simulation needs. The higher the awareness of digital health, the higher the awareness of VR and the need for simulation-based education. Third, factors affecting the demand for educational VR simulation were awareness of the changes in digital health education, the necessity of digital health education, the effectiveness of digital health education, and VR. Of these, awareness of VR had the greatest influence. Conclusions: VR simulation is a necessary educational tool for students in the healthcare field. In addition, it serves as a pedagogical tool for developing educational programs by major and designing a future-oriented health education curriculum for students in this field.
