‘何というか’의 분석 - ‘何ていうか’와의 비교를 중심으로

국문 초록

This study specifically examines the differences between ‘Nantoiuka’ and ‘Nanteiuka’ in terms of their positions in sentences. As a result of data analysis, it was analyzed that the two expressions differ not only in frequency but also in meaning depending on the location of their appearance. First, ‘Nantoiuka’ is used as a literal meaning in the sentence, a literal or pragmatic meaning in the sentence, and mainly as a discourse usage in the sentence. Through this, it was possible to confirm the tendency of meaning change as ‘Nantoiuka’ moved from the sentence-final position to the sentence- initial position. Second, ‘Nantoiuka’ is an expression derived from a questionnaire and began with a sentence, and the order of frequency of appearance appeared in the order of the mid-sentence position, the sentence-initial position, and the sentence-final position. This makes it possible to estimate language change according to location change. Third, ‘Nanteiuka’ is a variant of ‘Nantoiuka’, and it was found that the frequency of appearance and meaning change in accordance with the changes in the sentence-final, mid-sentential, and sentence- initial positions. However, as a result of the specific analysis, ‘Nanteiuka’ showed a relatively high frequency in the sentence-initial position, while ‘Nantoiuka’ showed a relatively high frequency in the sentence-mid position and sentence- final position. Fourth, in the position of the sentence, ‘Nantoiuka’ coexists with both literal and non-textual meanings, while ‘Nanteiuka’ is more prominent. The proposed analysis not only presents useful data for Japanese learners to distinguish the use of the two expressions but also lays a ground for the discussion of the grammaticalization of ‘Nantoiuka’.

영문 초록

本研究は「何というか」と「何ていうか」の文における位置による違いを考察することに重点を置いた。データ分析の結果、この二つの表現は出現位置によって頻度だけでなく意味でも差が現れると分析された。 第一に、「何というか」は文末で文字的意味で、文中では字義的意味または語用的意味で使われ、文頭では主に談話的用法で現れた。これを通じて「何というか」が文末から文頭に移動しながら意味変化が起きる傾向を確認することができた。第二に、「何というか」は疑問文に由来して文末から始まった表現で、出現頻度の順が文中、文頭、文末に現れた。これにより、位置の変化による言語の変化を推定することができる。第三に、「何ていうか」は「何というか」の変異型で、文末、文中、文頭の位置変化にともなう意味変化と出現頻度が類似していることが分かった。しかし、具体的な分析の結果、「何ていうか」は文頭で、「何というか」は文中で相対的に高い頻度を示した。文末では「何というか」がより高い傾向を示した。第四に、文中位置で「何というか」は字義的意味と非字義的意味が共存する反面、「何ていうか」は非字義的意味がより目立った。このような分析結果は、日本語学習者にとって、これら二つの表現の使用区分に関する有用な資料となるだけでなく、「何というか」の文法化を議論したことにも意味があると思われる。
