The endless developments on scientific technologies lead the communicationaround the world faster and more active through sharing enormous informationand knowledge. Regards to this, the barriers in society, such as in politics,economy and culture, are collapsing. Even the barriers between eastern andwestern world are only left in geographic aspects, and those two worldsare already developing into a certain united progress in social and culturalaspects. But these changes seem like a westernization of eastern world, notthe balanced combination through developments. The eastern world, whichpreserved the aspects of nationalism, is now absorbing the aspects of colonialismthrough the waves of globalization. And insensitive cultural acceptance, whichpowered by fantasies of colonialism, is now shaking the social and culturalbasis of eastern world. The universal images of western world, which were previously deliveredto eastern world from media related to art and culture, are usually describedas a target of admiration which depicts the lives actively living in highlydeveloped society. But the images of eastern world were quite different. Theimages of eastern world are still described as ‘the others’, a target of civilizationwhich depicts the lives uncivilized and under-developed. This perception ofwestern world is psychologically based on the desire to prove the superiorityand promote the advantages to stabilize their culture by setting ‘the others’on the other side of the earth. This certain ideology, which is revealed as orientalism, is frequently appeared from movies. Most of the images of easternworld, which are depicted throughout the movies, work only for motivationsto justify their heroic events and realize their superior status. These kindof images might be the reality out of fantasy, while we consider the powerof cultural effects of the movies. The original concept of orientalism is the developed form with balancein art and culture, which derived from the cultural exchanges between theaesthetic values, ideologies or philosophies of eastern world and westernart. So we should understand the current status and the reason why thepotential messages from the orientalism are distorted in the movies. Weneed to confirm and re-establish the specific identification on orientalismthrough the continuous and in depth studies now, and we, who related tothe movies, also need to be cautious and realize the negatively distortedimages of eastern world. A step further, devotions on delivering the rightcultural values through sharing exact informations are also required toachieve the balanced developments between the both worlds.
