국문 초록

본 논문은 최근 국내 학계에서 새롭게 제기되고 있는 ‘트랜스 아이덴티티’의개념을 재고하여, 구체화를 시도하는 연구이다. 트랜스 아이덴티티는 인간의 정체성 형성 과정에서 나타날 수 있는 정체성 전환의 변곡점을 가리킨다. 더불어스토리텔링적 관점에서 본다면, 수많은 서사체에 정체성 전환을 통해서 이야기를이끌어가는 인물 형상이 존재한다는 의미이다. 정체성의 관한 여러 학계의 논의를 종합해 볼 때, 정체성이란 사회적으로 규정되는 외부적 정체성과 내면의 자아가 규정하는 내면적 정체성을 모두 포괄한다. 트랜스 아이덴티티 역시 정체성의두 가지 특징에 기반을 두는데, 학계의 경향이나 서사체의 이야기 전개 측면에서내면적 정체성의 중요성이 확대되고 있다. 따라서 트랜스 아이덴티티가 공감을얻으려면 내면적 정체성의 전환이 잘 표현되어야 하는데, 비가시적인 내면적 정체성은 쉽게 표상되지 않는다. 이러한 맥락에서 얼굴미학은 내면적 정체성을 표현하는 데에, 즉 트랜스 아이덴티티의 표상으로서 효과적인 방안이 된다. 얼굴은내면적 자아와 가장 밀접하게 있으며, 표정을 통하여 비가시적인 자아, 영혼, 정신을 가시적으로 드러나게 해준다. 다시 말해 얼굴은 트랜스 아이덴티티의 내면적 정체성 전환을 설명하는 데에 가장 훌륭한 수단이라 할 수 있다. 트랜스 아이덴티티 표상의 구체적인 사례 연구로 영화 <죽여주는 여자>를 선정하여 분석하였다. 영화 <죽여주는 여자>는 매춘여성에서 살인자로 정체성이 전환되는 인물이 등장한다. 이 인물의 내면적 정체성은 배우 윤여정의 얼굴로 발현되는데, 윤여정은 탁월한 표정연기로 트랜스 아이덴티티의 내적갈등 과정을 완벽하게 표상한다. 이와 같이 영화 속 배우의 얼굴은 트랜스 아이덴티티 표상의 좋은 도구가 된다. 트랜스 아이덴티티의 표상으로서 얼굴미학의 가치는 무궁무진할 것이다. 우리가 얼굴미학에 주목해야하는 이유이다.

영문 초록

This study specifies a newly rising concept called ‘trans-identity’ in academy in Korea by reconsidering its meaning. Trans-identity is an inflection point where an identity transformation may occur in a process of identity formation. In a storytelling perspective, it means that there exists a figuration which leads a story by transforming an identity in many narratives. Considering many different perspectives in academy, ‘identity’ embraces both external identity which is defined by a society and self-identity which is defined by an ego. While the concept of trans-identity is also based in both of them, there is a tendency that the self-identity is considered more important in terms of developing a story in narratives or in academy. Therefore, it is important to show how the self-identity has been transformed to gain the sympathy. However, the invisible self-identity is not easily le self-identity is not easily represented. In this context, facial aesthetics is an effective tool to express self-identity as a representation of trans-identity. A face is closely connected with the self-identity and facial expressions enable invisible egos, souls and spirits to be seen. Thus, the face is the most effective tool to explain self-identity transformation of trans-identity. This study examines a movie, , and analyzes it as a case study of trans-identity. In the movie, there is a female protagonist whose identity is converted from a prostitute to a murderer. Her self-identity is expressed on an actress’ face and the actress whose name is Yeojeong Yoon represents the inner conflicts between two different identities with her outstanding facial expressions. Thus, an actor/actress’ face is the effective tool to express trans-identity. The value of facial aesthetics as trans-identity is infinite. This is why we should pay attention to facial aesthetics.
