안성기의 스타 페르소나 연구: 1980년대 영화를 중심으로

국문 초록

본고는 안성기의 스타 페르소나에 대해 연구했다. 스타 페르소나는 스타의 스크린 상의 집합적인 개성이다. 한 편의 영화가 아니라 여러 영화에 등장하면서 쌓아간 집합적인 창조물이다. 배우의 개성이 영화의 캐릭터, 스토리와 만나 연이어 성공을 거두면서, 그러한 개성이 그 배우를 대표하는 이미지가 되었다는 것을 의미한다. 이런 스타 페르소나는 사회의 집단적 욕망과 가치, 이데올로기와 필연적으로 공명하게 된다.그래서 특정 배우의 스타 페르소나를 연구하면 배우에 대해서도 알게 되고, 그 배우를 소비한 시대에 대해서도 알게 된다. 본고에서는 1980년대의 안성기가 어떤 스타 페르소나를 지니고 있는지 분석했다. 1980년대의 영화로 한정한 이유는 이 시기에 그가 최고의 스타였기 때문이다. 그가 출연한 영화 가운데 대표작이라고 할 수 있는 <고래사냥 1,2>나 <겨울나그네> 등의 낭만적 도피주의자를 분석했고, <난장이가 쏘아올린 작은 공>, <기쁜 우리 젊은 날> 등의 소시민을 분석했으며, <깊고 푸른 밤>과 <성공 시대> 등의 일그러진 욕망의 소유자를 분석했다. 낭만적 도피주의자는 1980년의 광주 학살에 대한 죄의식을 표현하면서 한편으로는 따뜻함을 잃지 않으려는 것으로 해석했다. 가난한 이들이나 소시민을 그린 것은 리얼리즘의 시대에 대한 징표로 해석했다. 일그러진 욕망의 소유자는 엄청나게 경제가 성장했던 1980년대의 어두운부분으로 해석했다

영문 초록

This paper explores the star persona of actor Ahn Sung-ki. A star persona refers to the collective on-screen personality of a star ― a cumulative creation shaped over time through multiple film appearances, rather than a character in a single film. It means that as the actor’s individual traits repeatedly aligned with specific types of characters and narratives in successful films, those traits eventually came to represent the actor’s signature image. Such a persona inevitably resonates with the collective desires, values, and ideologies of the society. Therefore, studying a particular actor’s star persona offers insight not only into the actor themselves but also into the era and audience that consumed their image. This paper specifically analyzes what kind of star persona Ahn Sung-ki had in the 1980s, the decade in which he was at his peak as a top star. Focusing on his major films from this period, the study argues that Ahn Sung-ki embodied a romantic escapist in Whale Hunting(Goraesanyang) series and Winter Wanderer(Gyeo-ul nageune), whereas he portrayed ordinary citizens in A Dwarf Launches a Little Ball(Nanjang-iga sso-a-ollin jag-eun gong) and Our Joyful Young Days, and he portrayed owners of distorted desires in Deep Blue Night(Gipgo puleun bam) and The Age of Success (Seong-gong siDae). The escapist character is interpreted as expressing a sense of guilt over the 1980 Gwangju Massacre while still striving to retain warmth. The portrayals of the poor and ordinary citizens are interpreted as a reflection of the era of realism. The owner of the distorted desire interpreted it as a dark part of the 1980s when the economy grew tremendously.
