특수학교에 재학 중인 장애아동 부모의 통합교육에 관한 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 현재 특수학교에 재학 중인 장애아 부모들의 통합교육에 대한 인식을 알아보는데 목적이 있으며, 연구 방법으로는 면담조사를 실시하였다. 연구 대상으로는 부산지역의 지체장애아학교 및 정신지체아 학교의 학부모 각각 4명으로 총 8명을 선정하였다. 연구문제로는 특수학교 취학 당시 상담대상 및 결정요인, 특수학급 및 특수학교의 장단점, 통합교육에 대한 인식 등 세 가지 영역으로 구분하였다. 중요한 몇 가지 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 장애아부모들은 자녀를 특수학교에 취학시킬 때에는 일반초등학교, 장애아부모 당사자, 다른 장애아부모들이 주요 의논대상이지만 혼란과 포기의 마음을 읽을 수 있다. 특수학교를 선택하게 된 결정요인은 스트레스 및 상처, 장애정도 등 아픔과 당연함의 견해가 나타났다. 둘째, 특수학급 및 특수학교의 장단점과 관련하여 부정적인 면과 아울러 부정적인 면 등 이중적인 생각이 동시에 나타난다. 우선 특수학급에서 장애아부모들은 사회성함양 및 학업적 효과를 장점으로 들었으며 단점에는 고학년일수록 부정적 태도, 차별의 대상 등을 언급하였다. 이어서 특수학교의 장점으로는 심신의 안정, 전문성을 지적하고, 단점으로는 교사-학부모의 협력결여, 장애수준별 교육의 부재 및 모방모델의 부재를 꼽고 있다. 끝으로 장애아부모들의 통합교육에 대한 일반적인 인식으로는 우선 통합교육의 개념을 서로 어울림이나 사고방식의 전환 등 매우 애매하게 이해하고 있었으며, 통합교육의 효과도 마찬가지로 긍정적인 측면뿐만 아니라 때로는 매우 비판적이고 비관적인 견해도 동시에 보인다. 장애아의 입장에서는 모방 학습과 또래문화 공유, 비장애아의 입장에서는 인성교육에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 평가하였다. 이어서 통합교육의 주요 문제점과 개선 방안은 동일한 개념을 중심으로 생각하고 있었다. 문제점으로 부정적인 인식 및 부적절한 교육환경을 들고 있으며, 통합교육의 개선방안으로는 사회적 인식의 개선과 통합교육의 질적 환경의 개선을 주로 강조하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to identify the viewpoints on inclusive education for parents of the disabled children who attend special schools. The research method used was private interviews. The target for the research were total of eight parents, including four parents of schools for physically disabled children and four parents for schools for mentally disabled children. The research issues of the interview were target interviewee when enrolling in special school and determining factor, pros and cons for special school and class, and the views on the inclusive education. Let's look at some of the important research results, first, the parents who enroll their children with disability usually discuss the issue with parents of normal school and parents with disabled children. The emotional outcomes are confusion and the minds of giving up. The determining factor choosing special schools are stress, emotional damage and the degrees of disability and the notion that disabled children should attend special schools. Second, it shows the contradictory though including negative perspective on pros and cons for special class and special schools. First, the parents stated that the advantages of special school are improving sociality and academic achievement, and disadvantages as negative attitude and target for discrimination as the children go up grades. Then the advantages of special school are mental stability and professionalism and disadvantage as lack of cooperation between teachers and parents, lack of education based on degrees of disability and lack of possible models. Finally, parent's general views on inclusive education are ambivalence coming from hardship in changing perspective and living harmonious with others. Along with understanding the benefits of inclusive education, they sometimes portrayed negative and criticized the concept of inclusive education. For perspective of disabled children, studying while mimicking and sharing contemporary culture were advantages in inclusive education and ethical education was viewed as merit for children without disabilities. Furthermore, most parents pointed out that the major problems with inclusive education and possible methods for improvement are similar concepts. They stated their negative view and how inappropriate educational environment is the problem in inclusive education and emphasized that improvement in societal perspective and educational environment are methods for improving inclusive education.
