정신지체 특수학교 직업담당교사의 직업교과서 활용실태

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 정신지체 특수학교 직업과 담당교사들의 직업교과서 활용실태를 밝히고, 이를 토대로 직업교과서의 개선방안을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 정신지체 특수학교에서 직업교과를 지도하고 있는 특수교사 250명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며, 학교별, 자격별, 교직경력을 고려하여 3인의 교사를 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 정신지체 특수학교 직업담당교사들의 직업교과서 활용실태는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 직업담당교사들은 수업을 진행하는 동안 직업 교과서를 적극적으로 활용하지 않고 있었다. 둘째, 직업담당교사들은 수업시간에 교과서 이외의 자료를 주로 사용하며, 새롭게 구성하거나 제작한 교재를 사용하여 수업을 진행하고 있었다. 셋째, 직업담당교사들은 수업시간에 교과서를 사용하여 지도할 때에도 교과서에 제시되어 있는 순서는 무시하고 학생들의 수준을 고려하여 선별적으로 지도하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 직업교과서를 이용하여 수업을 진행할 때 학생들의 수업호응은 높지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 직업교과서를 새롭게 개발할 때 보완해야 할 점으로, 많은 교사들이 학습 내용을 세분화하고 실제적인 내용들로 구성되어야 한다고 응답하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 직업교과서의 문제점에 대한 개선방안을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify and refine the conditions in which vocational textbooks are being used in schools of Mentally Retarded. To achieve this purpose, questionnaires were distributed to 250 teachers of students with Mental Retardation among the special education schools nationwide. To aid the qualitative of this research, interviews were also conducted with three teachers, chosen on the basis of their worksites, level of certification and teaching experiences. The conclusions drawn from this research were as follows: First, the official textbooks provided were not being fully used by the teachers in the vocational classes. Second, teachers were often instructing their student with other text materials or creating new instructive material in replacing of their provided textbooks. Third, even when the provided textbooks were used, only selective contents were actually being instructed or referenced by the teachers as opposed to the complete text contents. Fourth, students reflected poor responses with the used of the provided text materials. Fifth, vocational curriculum teachers expressed the necessity of to refine the provided textbooks and include more substantial subject matters. Suggestions proposed to refine the above conditions are as follows: First, specialized vocational textbooks including more instructions on substantial job skills should be published. Second, each section of the current vocational curriculum textbooks should be subdivided in according to the instructions appropriate for students of various levels. Third, various references and guidance materials must be developed in support of the teachers. Fourth, text materials should be published in digital format in replace of paper books.
