국문 초록

연구목적: 인지적 시점취득이란 타인이 어떤 생각 혹은 의도를 가지고 있는지 이해하는 능력을 일컫는다. 본 연구는 청각장애아동의 읽기능력의 차이에 따른 인지적 시점취득의 특징을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 과제는 동일 내용의 비언어과제와 언어과제, 그리고 각 과제별 두 단계 난이도(일/이차 오신념과제)로 나누어 구성하였다. 대상은 청각장애학교 초등부 1~6학년생 100명을 대상으로 하였다. 대상아동들은 읽기능력과 학년별로 6개 그룹으로 나누어 분석하였다. 연구결과: 그 결과 읽기 능력이 높은 아동은 인지적 시점취득 과제에 저학년부터 높은 점수를 나타냈고 학년에 올라감에 따라 과제 성적이 꾸준히 높아지는 것이 밝혀졌다. 반면에 읽기능력이 낮은 아동은 난이도가 낮은 비언어 과제에서는 저학년부터 고학년까지의 과제성적의 향상이 나타났지만, 난이도가 높은 언어과제는 과제성적이 향상되지 않았으며 고학년에서도 낮은 성적을 나타냈다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과 청각장애 아동의 언어능력이 낮을수록 언어적 요인과 과제의 난이도의 영향을 받아 인지적 시점취득의 발달이 지체되는 특징이 밝혀졌다.

영문 초록

Purpose: Cognitive perspective-taking (CPT) refers to the ability to understand how others think and to imagine what intentions others have. This study investigated the characteristics of CPT in deaf children with different levels of reading ability. Method: The measures consisted of non-verbal and verbal tasks that differed in linguistic load, and each task had two levels of difficulty (first- and second-order false beliefs). The participants—100 deaf children in the 1st to 6th grades of an elementary school for the deaf—were divided into 6 groups by grade and reading ability. Results: The children with higher reading ability scored higher on the CPT tasks across grades and showed steady development in CPT with grade. The children with lower reading ability showed an obvious improvement in their CPT scores from the lower to upper grades on easy non-verbal tasks, but did not improve sufficiently on difficult verbal tasks, even in the upper grades. Conclusion: The performance of the participants with a lower reading ability on CPT tasks was strongly influenced by the task’s linguistic load and difficulty.
