국문 초록

본 논문에서는 아세안의 산업내무역과 수출비교우위에 대한 인과관계의 분석을 통해 산업내무역의 진전을 통해서도 수출비교우위의 향상이 가능한지의 여부를 실증적 분석을 통해 알아보고자한다. 이를 위해 아세안과 주요국 간의 산업내무역과 수출비교우위의 인과관계에 대해 특히 아세안의 산업내무역의 진전이 수출비교우위에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 13개 산업 군으로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 정리해 보면 우선 산업내무역의 증가 및 전반적인 수렴 현상을 들 수 있다. 둘째, 아세안의 5개 주요 교역국들에 대한 수출비교우위지수의 추이를 살펴보면 대체적으로향상되거나 비슷한 수준을 나타냄을 알 수 있다. 이는 아세안이 주요국들과의 교역을 통해 상대국 시장에 대한 수출경쟁력을 확보해 왔음을 의미한다. 셋째, 아세안과 한국, 중국, 일본 등 동아시아 국가들과의 산업내무역이 수출비교우위에 정(+)의 인과관계를 가져오는 산업이 아세안과 미국, EU 등의 서구보다 더욱 많다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 아세안의 주요 교역국들과의 산업내무역에 있어서 동아시아 국가들과의 산업내무역의 확대가 수출비교우위에 보다 유리할 수 있음을의미한다고 할 수 있다. 넷째, 아세안과 주요국들 간의 산업내무역이 아세안의 수출비교우위에정(+)의 효과를 가져오는 산업들을 살펴보면 일반적으로 아세안이 수출비교우위 측면에서 열위라고 간주되는 산업들에서 수출비교우위의 증가가 일어남을 알 수 있다. 오히려 아세안이 수출비교우위가 있다고 여겨지는 산업들의 수출비교우위는 감소되는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 산업내무역을통해 교역국 간 수출비교우위의 격차가 줄어들 수 있음을 의미한다고 할 수 있다. 다시 말해 산업내무역을 통해 두 국가의 동종 산업에 있어서의 수출경쟁력의 격차가 감소 또는 수렴되는 현상이나타날 수 있음을 의미한다. 이는 산업내무역의 증가가 두 국가 간 상품의 생산방식과 질적 수준의 격차를 줄이는 역할을 함으로써 수출경쟁력의 수렴도 동시에 가져올 수 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This paper investigates the effects of the intra-industry trade on the export comparative advantageof ASEAN and 5 major trading partners; China, Japan, South Korea, EU, and U.S. In particular, weanalyzed the effects utilizing the 13 industry groups focused on the causality between intra-industrytrade and export comparative advantage. First, we found that the increase and overall convergenceof intra-industry trade. For example, there has been increase in intra-industry trade is Chemicals,Stone, Clay, Glass, and Concrete products, General machinery, etc, and convergence phenomenonalso appears in the intra-industry trade of Pulp, Paper and Wood, Electrical machinery andTransportation equipment industry. Second, the export comparative advantage of ASEAN for thefive major trading partner generally improved. This means that ASEAN has promoted the exportcompetitiveness through trade with the major markets. Third, ASEAN shows more positivecausality between intra-industry trade and export comparative advantage for East Asian countries;China, Japan and South Korea than Western developed countries, EU and U.S. It may imply thatASEAN’s trade with East Asian countries could be more advantageous to export comparativeadvantage. Fourth, in general, we could see an increase in export comparative advantage in theindustries considered inferior in terms of comparative advantage and vice versa. This may meanthat ASEAN could reduce the gap in terms of export comparative advantage between the advancedmajor trading partners through intra-industry trade. In other words, the development ofintra-industry trade and production methods could promote the export competitiveness of ASEANand play a crucial role for successful launch of ASEAN Economic Community.
