초등학교 중학년과 고학년의 쓰기 발달 비교 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 중학년인 4학년과 고학년인 6학년의 쓰기 발달을 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 이를 위하여 4학년과 6학년이 쓴 글 128편을 선정하였고, 쓰기 발달 지표로 내용 관련 지표(주제 표현, 참신성), 조직 관련 지표(문단 구분, 문단 구성), 표기ㆍ표현 관련 지표(철자 쓰기, 띄어쓰기, 문장 부호, 문법 표현)를 기준으로 삼아 분석하였다. 결과는 다섯 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 내용, 조직, 표기ㆍ표현 관련 지표들은 ‘문장 부호’를 제외하면 중학년보다 고학년에서 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 내용과 조직관련 지표들에서는 중학년과 고학년에서 모두 ‘중’ 수준 미만으로 낮은 점수가 나왔다. 셋째, 내용과 조직 관련 지표들과 표기ㆍ표현의 ‘철자 쓰기’, ‘문항 부호’ 지표는 중학년과 고학년 사이에 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 ‘띄어쓰기’와 ‘문법 표현’ 지표에서는 중학년과 고학년 사이에 유의한 발달 차이가 나타났다. 넷째, 교육과정 상 저학년에서 집중 지도가 이루어지는 ‘띄어쓰기’ 오류가 중학년과 고학년에서도 여전히 많은 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 중학년에서는 문장 부호를 제외한 나머지 표기ㆍ표현 지표들이 서로 높은 상관관계를 갖고 있으나 고학년에서는 이러한 지표들의 상관관계가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 중학년과 고학년에서 발달이 미흡하거나 더디게 나타나는 지표에 대해서는 더 많은 관심과 지도가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study compares and analyzes the writing development of 4th students in middle grade in elementary school and 6th students in senior grade. For this purpose, we selected 128 texts written by 4th and 6th graders and used content-related indexes(subject expression, freshness), organization-related indexes(paragraph division, paragraph composition), orthography and expression-related indexes(spelling rule, spacing words, punctuation marks, grammar expression) as development indexes of writing. The analysis results are summarized into five contents. First, scores of senior graders were higher than those of middle graders except for ‘punctuation marks’ in contents, organization, orthography and expression related indexes. Second, both middle and senior graders showed lower scores than middle level in contents and organization related indexes. Third, there were no significant differences between the middle and senior graders of ‘spelling’ and ‘punctuation marks’ in contents and organization-related indexes and orthography and expression. On the other hand, in ‘spacing words’ and ‘grammar expression’ indexes, there was a significant developmental difference between middle and senior graders. Fourth, the errors of ‘spacing’ in which the intensive teaching is made in the lower grades in the curriculum is still high in the middle and senior grades. Fifth, in middle school, the other markings and expression indexes except for punctuation marks have a high correlation with each other. However, the correlations between these indexes were low in the in the senior grades. Therefore, more attention and teaching are needed for elementary school middle and senior grades for writing indexes that are slow to develop or have low the achievement level.
