국문 초록

본 연구는 0세 첫 자녀를 둔 가정에서 부모 양육 및 가사 분담의 상대적 불균형이 어머니 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 두 불균형 간 상호작용 효과를 탐색하였다. 한국 영유아 교육·보육패널 1차년도(2022)에 참여한 어머니 1,629명을 대상으로 어머니가 보고한 자신과 배우자의 양육및 가사 참여 비율을 기준으로 양육 분담 불균형과 가사 분담 불균형 점수를 산출하였다. SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS Macro 4.2 model 1을 이용하여 조절효과 검증을 위한 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 부부 양육 분담 불균형과 가사 분담 불균형 모두 어머니 결혼만족도를유의하게 낮추었으며, 부모 양육 분담 불균형이 어머니 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향에 대한 가사 분담 불균형의 조절효과도 유의하게 나타났다. 특히 어머니가 양육과 가사를 모두 상대적으로 많이담당할수록 결혼만족도 하락 기울기가 가파르게 나타났고, 반대로 아버지가 양육을 더 담당하는가정에서는 가사 분담 불균형의 부정적 효과가 완화되었다. 본 연구를 통해 신생아 첫 자녀를 둔가정의 부부 역할 분담의 공정성이 어머니 결혼만족도를 유지하는 중요한 요인임을 확인하며 부부의 공평한 육아 및 가사 분담을 위한 부모교육 및 정책 개발 및 운영의 필요성을 제안한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates how the relative imbalance in parents’ childcare and housework division affects mothers’ marital satisfaction in families with a firstborn newborn and examines the interaction between the two imbalances. Using data from the 2022 wave of the Korean Early Childhood Education and Care Panel, we calculated childcare-division and housework-division imbalance indices for 1,629 mothers based on their reports of each partner’s share of these tasks. Regression analyses with SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.2 (Model 1) tested the moderating effect of housework imbalance. Results showed that both childcare and housework imbalances significantly lowered mothers’ marital satisfaction, and their interaction term was also significantly negative. Marital satisfaction declined most steeply when mothers carried a disproportionately large share of both childcare and housework, whereas in families where fathers assumed more childcare responsibilities, the negative effect of housework imbalance was attenuated. The findings highlight that perceived fairness in the division of parental roles during the newborn period is pivotal for maintaining mothers’ marital satisfaction and underscore the need for policies and programs that promote equitable sharing of childcare and housework between spouses.
