영아반 교사의 직업에 대한 인식과 직업정체성 함양을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램에 대한 요구: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 영아반 교사의 직업에 대한 인식과 직업정체성 함양을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램에 대한 요구를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 영아반 교사 8명을 대상으로 심층 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하고 주제 분석 방법을 통해 인터뷰 내용을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 영아반 교사들은 자신의 직업에 대해 ’영아와 교사가 함께 성장하는 행복한 직업’, ‘영아의 삶에 지대한 영향을 미치는 직업’, ‘정신적․신체적 소모가 커 소진되기 쉬운 직업’, ‘전문성을 반드시 갖춰야 하는 직업’으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직업정체성 함양을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램에 대한 요구에서 교육 내용은 ‘일의 의미’, ‘직업과 소명’, ‘영아반 교사로서의 정체성 알기’, ‘영아반 교사 자신의 성격 파악하기’, ‘긍정적 대인관계 심리 및 대화법’, ‘어린이집 조직문화 제대로 알기’, ‘직업과 윤리’를 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 교수-학습 방법은 ‘영아 발달에 대한 이해와 교사 경험이 있고 보육 현장 경험 있는 직업정체성 관련 전문가’에 의한 평일 주중 퇴근 후 2시간 정도의 강의와 토론 및 실습 위주의 세미나 방식을 선호하였으며 측정 도구 및 성찰일지 등의 평가를 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과가 영아반 교사의 직업정체성 함양을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate infant teachers’ perception of the need for a teacher training program to foster the awareness and development of their professional identity. In-depth focus group interviews were conducted among eight infant teachers and thematic analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The study revealed the following results: first, infant teachers perceived their job as a “‘-happy job where infants and teachers grow together’-”, “‘-a job that has a great impact on infants’ lives’-”, “‘-a job that is mentally and physically exhausting and can easily lead to burnout’-”, and, “‘-a job that requires expertise’.” Second, teachers believed that the following topics needed to be covered in teacher training programss to foster professional identity:, “‘-meaning of work’-”, “‘-profession and calling’,” “‘-understanding identity as an infant teacher’-,” “‘-understanding the personality of an infant teacher’-”, “‘-positive interpersonal psychology and communication skills’-”, “‘-understanding the organizational culture of daycare centers’-”, and “‘-professions and ethics’-”. Third, the teachers preferred a seminar format of teaching-learming method, with lectures, discussions, and practice for about two hours after work on weekdays, conducted by “‘-experts in childcare fields with an understanding of infant development and experience as teachers’-”, Fourth, with regard to evaluations modes, the teachers preferred measurement tools and reflection journals. The results of this study provide useful insights for developing a-teacher training programs that to foster the development of infant teachers’ professional identity.
