놀이중심 교육실천을 위한 예비유아교사의 놀이인식 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 예비유아교사가 학교현장실습 중 유아의 놀이를 어떻게 인식하고 해석하는지를 탐색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 학교현장실습을 수행하는 43명의 예비유아교사를 대상으로 실습기간 중 유아들의 놀이를 관찰하고 작성한 총 168편의 저널을 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 예비유아교사들은 유아들의 놀이에 대해 ‘즐거운 것’, ‘가르침과 배움의 주고받기’, ‘현실과 비현실의 경계 넘기’, ‘성장의 시간’이라는 네 가지 주제로 인식하고 있었다. 이는 예비유아교사가 유아의 놀이를 정서적, 인지적, 사회적, 창의적 발달을 통합한 총체적 경험으로 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 예비유아교사가 놀이의 의미를 스스로 인식하는 경험은 놀이를 통해 유아들의 배움을 이해하고 놀이 중심 교육과정을 실천할 수 있는 전문성을 높이는 기반이 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 또한 유아교사양성과정에서 놀이 관찰 경험의 필요성에 대한 시사점을 제안한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore how pre-service early childhood teachers perceive young children’s play during their field practicum. A qualitative research design was employed, and a total of 168 reflective journals written by 43 pre-service teachers were collected and analyzed inductively. The findings revealed four key categories of play perception: “play as enjoyment,” “an exchange of teaching and learning,” “crossing the boundaries between reality and imagination,” and “a time for growth.” These categories illustrate that pre-service teachers interpreted play as a holistic experience that integrates emotional, cognitive, social, and creative development. Furthermore, the participants recognized that play fosters children’s autonomy, imagination, and relational skills, and acknowledged play-based curricula as an essential pedagogical foundation applicable into real educational context. Based on these findings, the study suggests the need for experience-based training, strategic guidance for play support, and observation-centered practicum programs within teacher education to enhance pre-service teachers’ understanding of play.
