유아-교사 관계와 유아의 실행기능: 성별의 조절효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아의 성별, 실행기능과 유아-교사 관계 간의 상관관계를 살펴보고, 유아의 실행기능과 유아-교사 관계가 유아의 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지 혹은 두 변인 간의 관계를 성별이 조절하는지 검증하고자 하였다. 서울 및 경기도에 소재한 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 만 4세 유아 94명(남:49명, 여:45명)과 담임교사가 연구에 참여하였다. 유아의 실행기능과 유아-교사 관계를 담임교사가 평정하였다. 자료분석은 성별, 실행기능, 유아-교사 관계를 알아보기 위해 상관분석, 성차를 살피기위해 독립t-검증, 유아의 실행기능과 유아-교사 관계에서의 성별의 조절효과를 알아보기 위해 실행기능의 하위요인의 평균중심화를 실시한 후 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 성별, 실행기능, 유아-교사 관계 변인들 간의 관련성을 확인하였고, 유아의 성별에 따라 유아의 실행기능과 유아-교사 관계에 차이가 있으며, 유아-교사 관계와 유아의 실행기능 중 작업기억은 유아의 성별에 의해 조절된다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아-교사 관계가 유아의 실행기능에 미치는 영향에 있어서 유아의 성별이 작지만 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인임을 밝혔다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to examine the association among a child's gender, executive function, and student-teacher relationship quality and to verify whether the child’s executive function and student-teacher relationship differ according to the child’s gender or whether the child’s gender moderates the relationship between two variables. Study participants were 94 4-year-old children (male: 49, female: 45) and their teacher participated in this study as well. Executive function and student-teacher quality were measured using BRIEF and STRS by teachers completing questionnaires. Correlation analyses were conducted to examine the associations; an independent t-test was used for gender differences, and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to identify the moderating role of a child's gender on the relationships between executive function sub-factors and student-teacher relationship after the mean centering of the sub-factors of the executive function. As a result, the relationships between gender, sub-factors of executive function, student-teacher relationship variables were identified, and there were differences in the executive function of the child and student-teacher relationship quality according to the child's gender. It was confirmed that the student-teacher relationship and the working memory among the child's executive functions were different according to the child's gender. Therefore, the results of this study are meaningful in that the child’s gender has a small but significant influence on the effect of the student-teacher relationship on the child’s executive function.
