말놀이에 대한 유아교사 인식 및 말놀이 운영실태 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 말놀이에 대한 유아교사 인식 및 말놀이 운영실태를 파악하여 말놀이 운영 활성화를 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구 대상인 유아교사의 인식을 파악하기 위해 서울 외 5개 도시 내 유치원과 어린이집 유아교사를 무선표집하여 수집한 설문지 최종 456부를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 유아교사는 말놀이가 유아 언어발달 및 상상력발달, 사고발달 등에 긍정적 영향을 미친다고 응답했으며, 유아 연령이 높아질수록 적합한 말놀이 개수가 증가한다고 인식했다. 연구 대상인 유아교사 중 약 1/3 정도만이 말놀이가 활성화되고 있다고 인식했고, 말놀이가 활성화되지 않은 요인으로는 말놀이 종류와 방법에 관한 정보 부족을 꼽았다. 말놀이를 실제 운영하고 있다고 응답한 유아교사는 90.1%였으며, 주 2∼3회 운영하고 있는 유아교사가 가장 많았다. 과반수이상의 유아교사가 실시해 본 적 있다고 응답한 말놀이의 개수는 연령별로 적절하다고 인식하고 있는 말놀이 개수보다 적게 나타났으며, 말놀이를 언어교수 활동을 목적으로 가장 많이 운영하고 있다고 응답했다. 본 연구는 유아교육 현장에서 말놀이가 활성화되기 위해 유아교사에게 만 3, 4, 5세 연령별 말놀이 종류와 다양한 적용 방안에 대한 구체적 정보 및 자료 제공의 필요성을 제시하고, 예비교사 및 현장교사 교육과 연수 프로그램 구성을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the promotion of word play games by identifying preschool teacher′s perception about word play games and the status of conducting word play games. The final 456 copies of the questionnaire collected wirelessly from preschool teacher´s in kindergartens and daycare centers in five other cities outside of Seoul were analyzed to identify the preschool teacher′s perception. The study found that word play had a positive effect on infant language development, imagination development, and thought development, and recognized that more world play was appropriate as the preschooler′s age increased. Only about one-third of the preschool teachers in the study recognized that word play was active, and a lack of information on the type and method of word play was cited as the reason why word play was not active. 90.1 percent of the preschool teachers said they were actually running world games, with the largest number of teachers running two to three times a week. The number of world play games for which more than half of the preschool teachers said they had conducted them was less than the number of world play games that they perceived to be appropriate by age, and that world play games were done more frequently for the purpose of language teaching activities. This study suggests the need to provide preschool teachers with specific information and data on the types of word play games by ages 3, 4 and 5 and various application methods to activate word play at preschool education sites. This study provides basic data for the formation of education and training programs for prospective teachers and field teachers.
