유아수학교육 및 스토리텔링 수학교육에 대한 부모의 인식과 가정수학교육 현황

국문 초록

유아기 수학교육 및 유·초연계의 중요성이 강조되며 초등학교 수학교육에 적용되고 있는 스토리텔링 수학에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 유아수학교육 및 스토리텔링 수학교육에 대한 부모의 인식과 가정수학교육 현황에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 K도 W시 어린이집 만 3, 4, 5세 유아의 학부모 297명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 많은 학부모가 유아수학교육이 필요하다고 생각하고 있으며, 유아기 수학교육은 수학에 대한 긍정적인 태도 형성과 일상생활에서의 수학적 문제해결력을 길러야 한다고 인식하였다. 스토리텔링 수학교육에 대해서는 스토리텔링 수학에 대해 들어 본 적은 있지만 내용 및 적용방법에 대해 잘 알고 있지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며, 대부분의 부모가 스토리텔링 수학교육이 유아의 수학 학습에 도움이 된다고 인식하였고 가정수학교육 실시현황은 유아수학교육을 실시한다와 실시하지 않는다가 비슷한 비율로 나타났다. 반면, 스토리텔링 수학을 고려한 수학교육이 이루어지는 가정이 많지 않는 것으로 나타나, 스토리텔링 수학교육을 가정에서 부모가 실시하는 것이 가장 바람직하다고 밝힌 인식과 비교할 때 스토리텔링 수학교육 실천을 위한 구체적인 지원이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The importance of early childhood mathematics education and connected education of early childhood educational institution and elementary school are emphasized, and interest in storytelling mathematics applied to elementary mathematics education is increasing. In consideration of this situation, the purpose of this study was to examine the parent’s perceptions of early childhood mathematics education and storytelling mathematics education and the current state of mathematics education at home. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 297 parents of 3, 4, and 5-year-old children in day care center of W city. The result showed that many parents believe that early childhood math education is necessary, and that the purpose of early childhood mathematics education should be to foster positive attitudes toward mathematics and mathematical problemsolving skills in everyday life. In terms of storytelling, it was found that parents do not know about the content and application method although they have heard about storytelling mathematics for mathematics education. Most parents think that storytelling mathematics education is helpful for young children’s mathematics learning. As for the current state of mathematics education at home, each ratio of doing mathematics education and not doing it has almost same value. Considering both the perception that it is most desirable for parents to conduct storytelling mathematics education at their home and the result that mathematics education with storytelling mathematics is not conducted at many homes, it is necessary to have a practical support system for the conducting of storytelling mathematics education.
