국문 초록

본 연구는 백희나의 「나는 개다」에 나타난 개의 정체성을 탐구한 연구이다. 연구 목적에 따라 리쾨르의 자기해석학적 정체성 개념을 바탕으로 그림책 「나는 개다」에 나타난 개의 정체성을 해석학적 순환과정을 거쳐 고유한 특성에 대한 인식, 개와 인간과의 관계에서 드러나는 인식, 인간의 시선에 드러난 개에 대한 인식으로 분석하였다. 주인공 구슬이가 가진 개로서의 고유한 특성에 대한 인식은 종에 대한 자부심과, 종 내에서 개별성과 독특성을 가진 독립적인 존재로 형성되었다. 인간과의 관계에서 인간과 가족을 형성한 존재로 집안에서 피동적이지만, 동물로서 인간보다 상대적으로 우월하다는 인식으로 정리된다. 인간의 시선에서 볼 때 아버지는 구슬이를 인간의 삶의 방식에 복종해야 하는 수직적 존재로 인식하나, 동동이는 동등한 존재로 인식하였다. 이러한 분석을 통하여 구슬이의 정체성을 동일정체성, 관계적 정체성, 윤리적 정체성의 측면에서 해석하였다. 이야기는 주인공 구슬이가 타인과의 관계를 통해 반성적 사유의 결과로 새로운 자기정체성으로 나갈 수 있는 가능성을 보여준 채 마무리되어, 구슬이의 자기정체성이 완성되는 과정에 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구결과는 유아들로 하여금 개만이 아니라 다른 종의 생명체들과 더불어 살아가는 데 있어 종의 정체성을 존중하는 가치와 태도를 기르는 데 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study explores the identity of dogs in Baek Hee-na"s 「I Am a Dog」. In accordance with this purpose, based on Ricoeur"s self-interpretive identity concept, the dog"s identity in the picture book 「I Am a Dog」 can be interpreted as a same idnetity, a relational identity revealed in the relationship between a dog and a human, and a dog identity as seen from a human point of view. It was analyzed through a hermeneutic rotational process. The unique identity as a dog of the main character Gooseuli was formed by pride for the species and an independent existence with individuality and uniqueness within the species. In addition, the relational identity formed in the relationship with humans is summarized in the recognition that they are members of the human family and are passive being in the family, but are relatively superior to humans as animals. In relation to the human family, the father perceives Gooseuli as an animal that must obey human life style, while Dong-Dong perceives him as an equal. Through this analysis, the identity of Gooseuli was interpreted in terms of the same identity, the identity formed through relationships, and the ethical identity. The story ends with the protagonist Gooseuli showing the possibility of going out to a new self-identity as a result of reflective thinking through his relationship with others, showing that Gooseuli"s self-identity is in the process of being completed. The results of this study will help young children to develop values and attitudes that respect the identity of the species in living with other species of creatures as well as dogs.
