그림책에 나타난 아동이 난민화되는 과정과 피란 후 난민 아동의 삶

국문 초록

현재도 지구촌 곳곳에서 전쟁, 내전, 극심한 가난 등으로 인해 출생 국가를 떠나 이동하는 난민들이 존재한다. 본 연구는 그림책에서 아동이 난민화되는 과정과 피란 후 난민 아동의 삶을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 난민 아동이 등장한 13권 그림책을 선정하여 질적 내용분석을 진행하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책에 나타난 아동은 난민이 되는 과정에서 강제 이주와 엑소더스(난민 대이동)를 경험하게 되었다. 그림책에서 난민 아동들은 어느날 갑자기 떠날 수 밖에 없는 상황 즉 전쟁과 같은 상황으로 인해 강제 이주를 하게 되었다. 엑소더스 과정에서 난민 아동은 이동을 위한 짐 꾸리기를 했고, 광야와 바다로 이동을 하였다. 둘째, 피란 후 난민 아동은 중간 정착지인 난민 캠프의 삶과 정착지에서 ‘그들’과 ‘우리’의 삶으로 구분할 수 있다. 그림책에서 난민 캠프의 삶은 의식주 등이 부족한 결핍의 삶으로 묘사되었다. 한편 난민 캠프 안에서 또래와 놀며 배우며 함께 지내는 등 관계 맺기를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 난민 아동에게 정착지는 낯선 곳이며, 그들은 ‘난민’이라는 이름으로 불리며 주변의 편견 속에서 살아갔다. 하지만 난민 아동은 점차 정착지에서 동화되어 살아가는 모습으로 묘사되었다.

영문 초록

Throughout history, there have been refugees moving from their countries due to war, and extreme poverty all over the world. The aim of this research was to analyze the process of children becoming refugees and the lives of refugee children after the evacuation. For this purpose, the data were collected from 13 picturebooks in which refugee children appeared and analyzed according to qualitative content analysis. The results are presented below. First, the children experienced forced migration and exodus in the process of becoming a refugee in the picturebooks. In the picturebooks, the children were forced to move because suddenly one day there was a situation such as a war. The refugee children packed up their bags for moving, and they moved to the wilderness and sea. Second, after the evacuation, the refugee children lived in a refugee camp which was an intermediate settlement with an unfamiliar life. In the picturebooks, life at the refugee camp was described as a life of deprivation, lacking food, clothing and a home. On the other hand, it was found that refugee children formed relationships, such as playing and learning with their peers in refugee camps. For refugee children, the settlement was an unfamiliar place, and they were called "refugees" and had to lived with the prejudices of others. However, refugee children were gradually portrayed as assimilating and living in settlements, and the refugee children gradually assimilated to living in the settlements.
