그림책에 묘사된 또래괴롭힘 내용분석 : 1990년부터 2020년까지

국문 초록

본 연구는 1990년에서 2020년까지 또래괴롭힘을 주제로 국내에서 출판된 그림책을 분석하였다. 괴롭힘의 세부 종류, 묘사 관점, 대처 및 해결방안, 주변인과 어른의 역할 등을 정량적으로 분석하였고, 이러한 분석을 통해 파악한 묘사의 양상이 독자들에게 어떠한 메시지를 전달할 수 있는지 정성적으로 고찰해 보았다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 살펴본 또래괴롭힘 그림책은 괴롭힘의 언어적, 신체적, 사회적 측면을 골고루 묘사하였고, 묘사 관점 역시 피해자, 가해자, 목격자, 제 3자의 관점을 모두 포함하며 또래괴롭힘 경험의 다양한 측면이 드러냄을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 한편 대처 및 해결 방안에 있어서는 “괴롭힘을 그대로 당하기’와 ‘괴롭힘으로부터 숨거나 피하기’가 분석 대상 그림책의 절반에서 나타났으며, 주변인 역할의 분석 결과, ‘어른’의 경우 가장 빈번한 역할은 ‘없음’, ‘친구’의 경우 ‘적극적으로 대항해주기’로 나타났다. 그림책 전반에 내재한 메시지에 대한 정성적 분석에서는 괴롭힘 행위의 심각성과 그 폐해의 막중함이 다소 미흡하게 인식되고 있으며, 부모, 교사, 교장 등의 인물이나 지역 사회 등의 개입으로 문제의식과 경각심을 명확하게 표현된 그림책은 매우 드물어 또래괴롭힘은 공동체 문제라기보다는 개인의 경험이라는 인식을 유추할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed picture books published in Korea under the theme of bullying from 1990 to 2020. Detailed types of bullying, perspectives of the descriptions, coping and solutions, and roles of bystanders and adults were quantitatively analyzed, and the underlying messages in such descriptions were qualitatively analyzed. As a result, the bullying picture books examined in this study evenly described the verbal, physical, and social aspects of bullying, and the perspectives of descriptions also included all the perspectives of the victims, perpetrators, and bystanders, revealing various aspects of the bullying experience. On the other hand, as for coping and solutions, “being bullied” and “hiding or avoiding” appeared in half of the picture books. As a result of analyzing the roles of bystanders, the most frequent role of “adults” was “none”, and “friends” role was “actively counteracting.” In the qualitative analysis of the overall message behind the picture books, the seriousness of the bullying behavior and its significance were somewhat insufficient. Moreover, intervention from parents, teachers, principals, and the community were very rare, so it was possible to infer that bullying is perceived as an individual experience, rather than a community problem.
