국문 초록

In response to the Aum Shinrikyō incident, an extreme case of religious conflict in Japan, Haruki Murakami reflects on and critiques the problem of religion in 1980s Japanese society through both nonfiction and fiction, attempting to relativize religion and reconstruct faith within literature. This paper focuses on the issue of confronting “evil (shadow)” as depicted in Underground and In the Place That Was Promised―Underground 2, elucidating Murakami’s attitude toward reinterpreting religious problems from a psychological perspective. Furthermore, it examines After the Quake, Murakami’s first fictional work to take religion as a central theme, analyzing a conception of “God” distinct from the context of Japan’s new religions. Ultimately, the paper clarifies how Murakami’s depictions of the deep psyche diverge from the monotheistic orientation of Jungian psychology and resonate instead with the polytheistic psychologies of James Hillman and Kawai Hayao, which emphasize the richness and unpredictability of the unconscious.

영문 초록

オウム真理教事件という日本における極端な宗教問題を受けて､村上春樹はそのノンフィクションおよびフィクション作品において､1980年代の日本社会における宗教の問題を省察·批判し､文学を通じて宗教の相対化と信仰の構築を試みている｡ 本論文では､『アンダーグラウンド』および『約束された場所で―underground 2』に描かれたオウム真理教の｢悪(影)｣への対処の問題に着目し､宗教の問題を心理学的視座から捉え直そうとする村上の姿勢を解明する｡さらに､宗教を本格的に主題とした初のフィクション作品『神の子どもたちはみな踊る』を取り上げ､新新宗教的文脈とは異なる｢神｣の在り方を分析する｡その上で､村上文学における深層意識の描写が､一神教的なユング心理学とは一線を画し､深層無意識の豊かさと予測不能性を重視するヒルマンや河合隼雄の多神教的心理学と共鳴する点を解明する｡
