국문 초록

본 논문은 콘스탄틴주의를 ‘성공한 실패’라는 개념으로 규정하고, 국가 권력, 예배 공간, 말씀 구조, 선교 방식의 네 영역에서 나타난 구조적 전환을 분석하였다. 콘스탄틴의 기독교 공인은 교회를 박해에서 해방시키고 제국의 공적 질서에 편입시켜 안정과 확장을 가능케 했으나, 동시에 복음의 예언자성·공동체성·급진성을 약화시켰다. 본 연구는 콘스탄틴주의를 단순한 역사적 사건이 아닌 복합적 신학·정치 체제로 해석하며, 이를 비판적으로 재검토해야 함을 제안한다. 특히 한국 교회와 신학계에 있어, 권력과의 거리두기, 제도와 공간의 탈중심화, 성례·말씀의 균형, 존재의 증언으로서의 선교가 탈콘스탄틴 시대 교회 재구성의 핵심 과제임을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study defines Constantinianism as a “successful failure” and analyzes the structural transformations in four key areas: state power, worship space, the structure of the Word, and mission. The Christianization of the empire under Constantine liberated the church from persecution and secured stability and expansion within the imperial order, yet simultaneously weakened the prophetic, communal, and radical dimensions of the gospel. Interpreting Constantinianism as a complex theological-political system rather than a mere historical event, this research calls for its critical reassessment. For the Korean church and theological academia, distancing from political power, decentralizing institutions and sacred spaces, restoring the balance between sacrament and Word, and reclaiming mission as embodied witness are proposed as core tasks for reconstructing the post-Constantinian church.
