From Economic Expansion to Colonial Plunder: Japanese Zaibatsu and Economic Control in Occupied Areas

국문 초록

After the outbreak of the world economic crisis in the late 1920s, Japan implemented a military dictatorship and a controlled economic system. After the September 18th Incident, Japan carried out an experiment of a controlled economy in Northeast China, established the “national policy companies”, and incorporated Northeast China into the “Yen economic zone”. Subsequently, the Xingzhong Company was established to coordinate the economic plunder in North China and lay out the aggression against the whole of China. After the outbreak of the all-out War of Aggression against China, Japan established a colonial controlled economy in the occupied areas. By establishing “national policy companies” such as the North China Development Corporation and the Central China Revitalization Corporation, Japan carried out monopolistic control over transportation, minerals, grain, commerce and other fields. By means of “military management”, “entrusted operation”, “Sino-Japanese joint venture” and other means, Japan plundered strategic resources such as coal, iron, salt and cotton, controlled the production, transportation and sales of grain, and monopolized the circulation of goods. Japan's controlled economy, with state capital and zaibatsu capital as the main body, excluded free competition and formed a colonial economic system, which dealt a heavy blow to China's national industry and fully exposed the colonial plundering nature of Japan.

영문 초록

19 世纪20 年代末世界经济危机爆发后，日本实行军事独裁与统制经济体制。九一八事变后，日本在东北进行统制经济试验，成立“国策会社”，将东北纳入“日元经济区”。随后成立兴中公司，统筹华北经济掠夺，布局侵略全中国。全面侵华战争爆发后，日本在占领区建立殖民地统制经济，通过成立华北开发株式会社、华中振兴株式会社等“国策会社”，对交通、矿产、粮食、商业等领域进行垄断统制，采取“军管理”“委托经营”“中日合办”等手段，掠夺煤、铁、盐、棉等战略资源，控制粮食生产与运销，垄断商品流通。日本统制经济以国家资本和财阀资本为主体，排斥自由竞争，形成殖民经济体系，给中国民族工业带来沉重打击，充分暴露了日本的殖民掠夺本质。
