한글 모음의 五行 배정 원리 - 姓名學的 관점을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 한글의 모음에 오행(五行)을 배정하는 원리를 성명학적으로 살펴본 것이다. 한글은 오행사상이 적용되어 만들어졌기 때문에 역(易)의 원리와 상통하고 있으므로 한글은 소리글자로서 본고에서는 소리 중에서도 이름을 부르는 소리에 주목하였다. 이름은 성명학의 주제이기도 하다. 현 사회에서는 이름으로 운명을 예측할 수 있다고 믿으므로 이름이 더욱 중요해져 개명을 하는 사례도 늘어나고 있다. 이러한 사회현상에 따라서 성명학의 중요성이 더욱 높아지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 과거에는 한자로 이름을 지었으며, 한 글자 성(姓)이 대부분인 우리나라에서는 이름으로 두 글자를 많이 사용하였고, 이에 따라 세 글자로 된 성명(姓名)이 대다수였다. 현대에 와서는 우리말과 글로 이름을 짓자는 사회적 의식이 증가하면서, 작명의 양상도 변화하고 있다. 이제는 한글 이름이 과거에 비해 현저하게 많아진 것이다. 그러면서 한글에 내재된 역리(易理)에 대한 관심도 높아졌다. 이러한 사회적 관심의 증가와 더불어 성명학에서 한글의 자음과 모음에 오행을 배정하는 시도가 나타났다. 그러나 자음에는 오행배정이 이미 체계가 잡혀있고 모음에는 각 학자마다 조금씩 견해차이가 있기에 한글 모음에 오행을 배정하는 역리를 살펴보고, 모든 모음에 오행을 배정해 보았다.

영문 초록

This study examined principles to arrange the Five Elements into Hangul vowels with the theory of name. As Hangul is a voice letter which was created by application of the Five Elements and was related to the principles of the Book of Changes, I concentrated on the voice to call a name. A name is a theme of the theory of name. There are growing cases that someone is changing his(or her) name because a name is very important, which means that someone's name can predict his(or her) fate. Thanks to the social trend the importance of the theory of name is growing. In the past a name was formed by Chinese letters and two letters were used for a last name in Korea because almost every Korean had a one-letter surname, which means that almost all had a three-letter full name. In the present there is a changing situation for forming a name as a social awareness for the fact that Korean letters are used for a name is growing. There are much more Korean names in the present than in the past. There is a growing interest in the Book of Changes, which is inherent in Hangul. With the growing interest the Five Elements are often applied to Hangul consonants and vowels in the theory of name. However this study figures out the Book of Changes, which arrange the Five Elements to Hangul vowels and arranges the Book of Changes to every vowel because consonants have a systematic arrangement of the Book of Changes, whereas vowels are not different from consonants according to scholars' views.
