국문 초록

장애령은 작가로서 현실을 냉정하게 직시하고 있는 작가이다. 그리고 그녀가 그린 소설 속에서는 인간관계에서 전개되는 일상생활의 면모를 아주 자세히 다루면서 사람의 내면세계를 잘 묘사하고 있다. 장애령은 여성이 살아가는 과정에서 나타나는 부정적인 성향까지도 감추지 않고 적나라하게 드러내면서 저열한 근성을 폭로하고 있다. 그녀는 여성의 삶을 자각적으로 관조하며 여성이 지닌 여성적인 특징과 범속한 측면에 주의하면서 여성 의식을 구체적으로 말하고 있다. 그녀의 소설에서 여성 인물은 대체로 주체적인 발언을 하고 있으며 상당히 자각적이다. 그러나 장애령 작품≪沉香屑·第一炉香≫에서 그린 웨이롱은 달랐다. 웨이롱은 자각한 상태에서 타락의 길을 걷는다. 장애령은 그녀의 작품 속에서 여성이 비극적인 삶을 살아가는 까닭을 여성 인성의 저변에 자리 잡고 있는 뿌리 깊은 의존성과 통제하기 어려운 욕망의 문제로 제기하고 있다. 장애령 작품≪沉香屑·第一炉香≫에서 주인공 웨이롱의 삶은 소외와 대립을 경험하며, 자신의 욕망을 충족시키기 위해 새로운 환경, 새로운 사람을 찾아 편력하는 모습을 보여준다. 그리고 인간의 욕망이 사회적인 요구에 어떻게 반응하는 지를 탐색하고 있다.

영문 초록

Zhang Ailing is an author who coldly faces reality. In her novels, she intricately details everyday life involving human relationships and well describes the inner world of individuals. Zhang Ailing uncovers depraved instincts by frankly exposing even the negative tendencies that appear in the lives of women instead of concealing them. She consciously observes the lives of women, paying attention to their feminine characteristics and mediocre aspects, specifically exploring women’s consciousness. Aloeswood Incense: The First Brazier is a short story serialized in Violet magazine in 1943. This novel depicts the protagonist, Weilong, who gradually loses her dignity while living with her aunt, Madame Liang. In Zhang’s novels, female characters generally make subjective statements and are quite self-aware. However, Weilong in Aloeswood Incense: The First Brazier is different. Weilong consciously walks the path of corruption. Zhang Ailing suggests that the reason women lead tragic lives in her works lies in the deep-rooted dependency and uncontrollable desires inherent in female nature. In Aloeswood Incense: The First Brazier, Weilong the protagonist experiences alienation and confrontation in her life, showing a tendency to wander around in search of new environments and new people to fulfill her desires. The novel also explores how human desires respond to social demands.
